Villa sign highly rated Libor Kozak, last seasons Europa league golden boot winner, was been linked to A. C Milan but Lambert finally persuaded him to join Villa. Absolute bargain of the transfer window, Lazio reluctant to sell but felt after five years of loyal service he deserved his chance to move. Was Klose understudy, and seen as his replacement.

I know some of us will be moaning we still don't have a creative attacking midfielder, but let's just calm down. We have properly strengthened the squad now, there is competition for places and there will be no complacency from anybody. Not only that but it also means we won't be playing awful players just because we have to (e. g. Barry bannan for 4 months last season)!
If we hold on to everybody but benteke we really don't have to strengthen that much next season other than a replacement (unless helenius or kozák can fill his shoes) and then the all important CAM! And/or a tough DCM We survived last season and played really well close to the end, and now we have improved the squad.
Okay we're not going to be in europe next season but good things come to those who wait and if i'm honest i'd rather sign 7 players to improve the squad than one or two big names.
We might see somebody come in in january but if not, don't worry. We will be fine this season, and anybody expecting us to sign 15 players and be challenging for europe is silly, its a massive work in progress and we are definitely going in the right direction. I might be alone here but I for one am very happy with the transfer activity this summer and in lambert I most certainly trust! UTV

Barry Bannan sold for 1. 75 mil
Stephen Ireland season long loan so that will see out his contract.

I have to say I'm a bit non plussed by us signing another forward as it seems to be the strongest area of the team
Is it Lambert putting in place a replacement who will be fully acclimatised for when Benteke leaves at the end of the year maybe?
Surely midfield and defence were greater priorities?
Oh well, if he's any good we shouldn't grumble.
If we struggle in midfield from now until January, then we have a right to grumble
Tick tock, its not 11. 00pm yet. I think the question is can we keep Benteke if big offers come in? that's why Lambert has got Kozak. Some offers may not be rejected out of hand as money talks and Lerner will listen. AS someone else has pointed out he is a business man.

Lets face it, Kozak is not a "sexy" signing, but could provide value still. I think the big story is that Helenius really will be looked at as a forward player, not necessarily a striker.
I hate to say it, but I think the fact that Delph has been playing at a completely different level, is almost like having a new signing. Gabby has been great.
Quite a few positions are in lock down with some pretty good performances. Would still feel more comfortable if KEA was used more sparingly as I just don't rate the bloke.
I think people have been fairly harsh on Bacuna, but I think the guy has something. He has been a bit off the pace, but I think he will prove to be a very high value signing, under the radar even.
I really would like to see Helenius involved as I think he is a playmaker. We saw a small sample of what he can do when he came on with Benteke vs Chelsea. he flicked on a nice one that Wiemann almost smashed in and created another for Benteke.
Think about it, we just signed a whole side for about half what the Gunners payed for effing Ozil ffs. that was a complete knee jerk reaction signing, and they will NEVER get half of that back when they sell him on.

That said, I think there are a lot of ifs, buts and maybes around our whole squad
I guess what I would have liked was a few sure fire certainties (just one or two)
Anyway, we have what we have now and hopefully it all turns out well

very disapointed we aren't getting any1 else in. all the rubbish about not enough in the kitty bull. u tellin me they couldn't get 7mil out for fisher whos quality and would make a massive difference 2 us. load of crap. another struggle this season!
Spent more than 9 other teams in the league and still moaning. If you don't like the lack of big name signings during this transitional period then sod off down the blues and watch all their new international signings.

Seriously though, I don't agree with your comments. Non of us are expecting Europe this year but we are hoping that 15th will improve to top half and even a little bit higher. don't let Villasmurf read your comments or we will get another "doomed you are all doomed"

I know this is a Villa forum, but I can't help but laugh at the Gunners paying ridonkulous sums of money for the petulant German, Ozil.
This is a massive panic buy the way I see it. 42. 4 squid on him?
I hope they go easy on him the first time he sulks his way down the left after being bumped off the ball. EPL is much more physical than the Spanish league and he was one of the biggest sulkers going round over there.

Boycotting this page until 11pm tonight as everybody is either being rather silly in their 'rumours' or moaning about us not panic buying on the final day of the window like most teams do. Had tv on since 9am and been checking twitter all day with updates from 10-15 pages so i'm participating in deadline day as whole but I just think the stupidity on this site is boring and as there is clearly much more of it today i'm keeping away. That said the boycott clearly failed, as here I am!

We have already signed six players which is (currently) 5 more than Man Utd, four more than the Toon and (if Ozil goes through) three more than Arseanal. So yeah it will be quiet at Villa Park and Bodymoor today.
