Are you 'Jack' the Liverpool fan using a different name? How many Liverpool rejects do want. I rate Andy Carroll but he's only fit for 1/4 of a season which renders him a poor option, and the less said about Glen Johnson the better. Wouldn't have downing back either. I know he improved last season playing number 10 but he is over the hill and too inconsistent, and I would much rather we play Grealish. Why not Kyle Walker off spurs now that they have bought Trippier, or Charlie Austin?

Liverpool fan here. Obviously to see what you guys made of our interest in benteke and I noticed a few of you giving your opinion about rodgers and I can't disagree he is like a kid in a sweet shop. We needed a top keeper and striker and he goes out and buys all sorts. Absolute joker. But would any of you be happy to let him go for the price being asked? It seems Liverpool aren't exactly popular over these ways but do you think he would be a good buy for us?

Cheers fellas. I do hope you do better this year, they are a proper club villa

I wouldn't say happy to let him go but £32.5m is a lot of money for us at the moment and would strengthen the team in multiple areas. As far as Liverpools interest (I don't mean to offend but probably will so sorry in advance) I will be a little bit more bitter if he chooses them as a next club. He says he wants champions league which you can't offer and he's not guaranteed a starting place. Where as at Villa he's the main man and we provide a better platform for him to get the big moves he wants and deserves rather than settling for the scouse. Would he be a good signing for you? Average team bar Sturridge and Coutinho, don't cross the ball or really use a target man so probably not as prolific as you'd like. Plus you've just brought a £29m youtube star so do you need him? Think your best bet is to just leave him where he is and let him flourish until a top 4 club come in for him rather than putting the brakes on a potentially promising career.

I agree totally with 'the villa'

But I'd like to say great post, and as far as I'm concerned any other supporter is welcome here, if they post like yours.
A previous pool fan kind of tainted the water towards you guys, so if you meet 'jack' please push him in the Mersey, and hold his head down!!

As regards Big Ben, sadly you don't try to play his type of football, in my opinion Rogers doesn't have a plan 'b' and won't resort to crosses, long balls, or direct football, so he doesn't bring anything to your team.
What does he have that Andy Carroll doesn't.
Yes he has a better touch, but he's a big man.
And sadly, other than Europa what do you offer that we don't??

I think the 32.5 million is a fair buyout clause for him - I would rather he stay but if anyone is willing to pay the full amount for him then we should let him go and wish him well. Like The Villain says I would rather he move to a champions league team as he really is good enough to be playing at that level and Liverpool simply can't offer that this season and will struggle to get there next season too. I think he would have been a better signing for you than Firmino because I question whether he could operate as effectively as a striker in the Premier League, and you have virtually the same player in Coutinho if the idea is to play him as a number 10. I think Clyne was a good buy for you too (well, literally anyone is better than Glen Johnson!). Unless Rodgers really gets his next signings right, he will be one of the first to go next season. He still hasn't replaced Suarez and he now needs to replace Stevie G and that will be a monumental task.

Personally I'd be gutted to see the big man go. His strength and ability in the air means that his skill on the floor is overlooked; he has the lot
No, would not be happy to see him go, even for the buyout price.
If Liverpool consider £35 mil too little for Sterling, £32 mil should be considered somewhat of a bargain for Benteke (he gives you goals)
Hopefully the Liverpool hierarchy won't see it that way

if the big man has to go ,I hope it's abroad ,would not like him playing against us .

Mendax - I agree that Benteke is a very well rounded forward but he tends to play well in patches and has had a bit of injury trouble which must be taken into account. Comparing his price to Sterling is a bit unfair because we all know that English players always go for massively over inflated prices. A better comparison would be Diego Costa, similar type of powerful forward and he cost Chelsea 32 million. So on that basis I think his buyout clause is realistic.

Don't get me wrong I think we should do everything we can to keep him, but the price to me is fair. Anyway, nobody has jumped in and paid the buyout clause since Sherwood supposedly leaked it, which might have been a master stroke from him as it seems to have put off potential suitors :)

Hi Andy
I don't think it's even possible to talk about fair prices in today's transfer market
The fact that English players go for inflated prices does not mean they are worth it
All I know is that if I was any other team in the world and I had the chance of signing Benteke for 40 mil or Sterling for 40 mil, I know what I'd be doing with my money.
The Costa comparison is a valid one.But remember, Costa is about 5-6 years older than Benteke
End of the day mate, these prices are all ridiculous

Totally agree Mendax, the transfer prices are ridiculous at the moment, and I never once suggested Sterling was worth that kind of money. I don't rate him at all to be honest, I would rather have Townsend or Oxlade-Chamberlain any day, and I would definitely rather have Benteke.

Got to pull you up on your facts though - Benteke is 24 and although he looks about 50 Diego Costa is actually only 26, so there's only 2 years in it.

I was going along with the conspiracy theories around Costa's age Andy
I can't believe he's 26 mate.
Class player though

Thanks for the replies fellas. I am concerned about our style of play being an issue I am not sure that he provides enough movement off the ball and he is the main man at villa and he wouldn't be a at us. Another thing that concerns me is his work rate. I have not really seen him chasing down defenders and putting them under pressure after sleeping on it I think it would be better for both parties if Liverpool looked elsewhere About Liverpool being an average team everywhere else on the pitch I have to disagree. Can (when in midfield), lallana, sakho (he looks awkward but he is a great defender) coutinho, sturridge, ibe, Henderson is underrated also are all quality players in my opinion and with solid players like milner, Clyne, firminio added. I am going to stick my neck out and say we will get top four this year
