As a football fan and hey human being I would just like to say Rip Pavel srnicek great goalkeeper and will always be remembered thoughts are with your family pavel is a Geordie.

{Ed007's Note - It's very sad news. Today is also the 8th year anniversary of ex-Celtic & Motherwell player, and a very good friend of mine since my school days, Phil O'Donnell, who collapsed and died on the park at the age of just 35.
May both their souls rest in the eternal peace of God's love.}

At the risk of being hammered by some on this site, I am asking the question "is Richards as good as we want to believe? "
Over the last few games when he wasn't playing we picked up a few points. Then he and Clark play together and we give away 2 goals. The entire defence was a shambles with both scorers in so much space. Where was Richards for the first? About 10 yards from his man. Where was Richardson for the second? Having a rest about 10 yards away. Where we're the Richards and Clark for the second?
The blame could be put on Garde who changed the back line.
When Richards was signed the press reported that he would only sign if he always played when he was fit. Is this why he played yesterday?
Will we beat Sunderland? I doubt it.
There are several players that should be encouraged to depart in January and be replaced, but who will be wiling to sign for us?
Unless our owner is willing to fund at least £100m and we pay those coming in silly pay we will stagnate and slide down and not only into the championship.
When Deadly sold to Lerner he said the club would be in safe hands, Dracula and blood bank come to mind.
In any sport you have to improve to stand still and we have done the exact opposite.
I bet MON feels very relieved that he walked when he realised that Lerner was not going to fund the team to an extent that was needed to improve!

I agree about Richards. I like him and I still think he can be a good player at Villa, but he needs a better central partner. He needs have a good RB and CB either side to continually talk to him. Or he should go to RB. I personally wouldn't have changed the defence. No manage would allow a clause whereby if you're fit you play. I think he said he would only sign of he could play at CB.

29 Dec 2015 16:55:17
Sorry lads I have to disagree with both of you.
Richards is never a central defender and never will be, he should be played at RB from now on, if he is not happy with that bring in a rookie we have nothing to lose as it stands.
We have to start being positive and decisive, and go for it, Who Dares Wins.

{Ed007's Note - Is your real name villarodney?}

29 Dec 2015 17:37:55
Hope you are not referring to me as a plonker Ed, ha ha ha.

{Ed007's Note - You started the OFAH stuff with your 'Who Dares Wins' :) And there is a few Triggers on here....

29 Dec 2015 18:02:21
More of a Military motto Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Didn't they steal it from Del Boy?}

29 Dec 2015 18:34:09
Yeh possibly, maybe they got it from Grandad.

{Ed007's Note - Well it wouldn't be Uncle Albert or it would have been Who Dares Sinks.}

We are a shambles why change a team so much were a prem team who should be fit enough to play often enough blame manager for team selection today I go most matches home and away after Watford I knew we were down but now after Norwich we definately are and any 1 who thinks different need their head looking at I had faith which sadly has now gone club is rotton from the top I've accepted were down so please randy sell the club now.

29 Dec 2015 01:55:17
Well after traveling to norwich today iam gutted i really thought we would win today it does matter who comes in now its all over we ent going to get 10 wins there's only 21 games left so we need champions league form. Terrible today no fight no passion how many mistakes does alan hutton have to make to be dropped last 4 games he's give away a pen scored a own goal an twice made errors leading to a goal. Iam not overly confident when we go down we will come straight back. I actually belive if this squad we have now was in the championship we wouldn't be in the top 6 there awful! Villa fans great again we give everythink to them an get nothink back! These players havnt got the guts or the class to stay up an it really hurts me a lot! We need more than remy to keep us up! Collymore was right after the game lerner out fox out paddy out hold your head in shame! I don't think villa should ever win the league but we should always be a top 8 club! Rip ASTON VILLA see you tuesdays thursdays an fridays instead of fighting like lions you ran like pussy cats! I WANT MY VILLA BACK!

29 Dec 2015 01:18:35
Lets be realistic about playing championship football next year and plan ahead for that. There's a bunch of players in the under 21 squad that should be given an opportunity now, its not even risky in my opinion to start giving the new crop a go.

31 dec 2015 17:54:01
should be better prepared instead of giving garde the job someone like paul jewell would have been better with good championship pedigree.

I have been on here many times and moaned at Villa fans for constantly moaning - but today I think I need to have a whinge.

Let's face it, we're down. I have this heart over head thing where my heart still says we have a chance. But let's be honest, if it was Stoke in our position, or Bournemouth or anyone really, we'd all be saying they were down and we'd put our mortgages on it. So it's almost certain. We have to win 10 out of the next 19 games. But we've hardly won ten games in 2 and a half seasons. My heart says if we get some good players in in January and other results go for us we could do it but my head says save the money and spend it as wages and transfers for next season in the championship keeping Amavi and traore and building a new team around them.

Where does the blame lie? Well there's the mystery. You'd say it lies with the manager but can it really be the fault of the last 5 or 6 managers? Surely they weren't all useless? So is it the players? They are he guys that cross the white line? But then look at how many players that have left us deemed not good enough by managers and fans that are currently playing above us.

Myhill, Craig Gardner, Steve Davis, Gary Cahill (yes, Martin o'neill thought Curtis Davis was better), Marc albrighton, James Collins, and I'm sure there are more. There is something about our great club that is wrong. How can we have such a great academy that wins the youth equivalent of the champions league but only one player gets through? How can we have players that perform so poorly for us that then go on to perform at a higher level?

Could it be the fans fault? You'd say no, but I don't think we're completely innocent. I think we put so much pressure on the players at times that it's impossible for them to play with the freedom they'd like. Players like albrighton who villa fans laid into everytime he put a cross wrong (which was quite often granted) but he played like he was always on edge. I just think the expectation of Villa fans is too high, and we always talk about our European cup - but Forest won it twice and look at them.

Finally, is it the board? And my opinion is that these guys are more to blame than anyone. I have supported Randy Lerner while people have given him a proper sl*gging. But my opinion now having really read up on how Villa is run is I don't think he has a clue. Our club is run by money men trying to make money - not by football people. I remember when Newcastle had the same and they got relegated and they're still in a bad position because Ashley follows the £ signs. I remember lots of people hating the Doug Ellis era but this would never have happened under him. Villa fans want a rich multi billionaire to buy our club and i too would love that but I would take a wealthy owner with footballing people overseeing the running of our club. It's the one thing we lack. Footballing expertise from the top. If we don't get that we will dissapear into the championship and potentially lower than that. We are Villa and we will be back. Bigger clubs than us have gone down and returned just as we will. Look at clubs like rangers who ceased to be and have rebuilt.

For anyone that got this far and didn't give up reading, thank you. I would love to hear your replies good or bad. The one thing we all have in common is our love for our club.

Villa till I die.
