My ever lasting memory of Niel Cooper, will be when we got promoted . As our coach was leaving the ground Cooper and two others came past us, one of them was in a shopping trolly, the others pushing, all a bit worse for wear, You could see Coops had had a few sherbets, he could hardly stand for laughing . Great man, his only problem was injuries Too young to go this way . We've certainly got a good side up there now .
RIP Coops . Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

28 May 2018 20:29:45
Gutted after my 23 hour round trip too and from Wembley.
I hope grealish stays but know with the likes of Utd sniffing we can't blame him for his career if he goes I just hope 1 day he returns.
My plans for next year would be as follows.

Angus Gunn - loaned from city

Tuanzebe- loaned from Utd
Chester
Sulliman
Taylor

Pearson- tireless cm off Preston
Hourahane

Albert
Grealish or ohare if he leaves
Green

Kodjia

Steer bedaux Doyle Hayes hogan RHM etc

Get rid of rest of old lads let's play attacking football giving youth a chance.

29 May 2018 07:58:57
You team looks fine but I would sell Taylor and I have a feeling Albert could be on his bike,
We have to use the young players now that's a gimme
Hayes and Murphy are also in the mix

28 May 2018 17:08:31
Come on Neil you are a fighter
Get well mate.

28 May 2018 16:17:49
At least we could have some good news for the Midlands Coventry 2-0 up at Wembley,
They deserve to be promoted with the past years they have had,

28 May 2018 16:45:06
To true bob remember our days down there in the doldrums good for coventry.

28 May 2018 17:09:23
I remember very well them days claret.

28 May 2018 13:18:46
I look at Coventry and I'm thinking is this where villa are going now!
I heard a financial expert on radio this morning and he states we are losing nearly a million a week!
You just can't carry on like this and serious issues need to be addressed as quick as possible,
Dark days are here and my beloved club is in real turmoil,
I was looking forward to the world cup this summer but at moment I could not care less now,
My club is my life and all I can see is we are drowning into oblivion,
This might sound over the top to some of you but we are the villa family and nothing beats that,

28 May 2018 14:26:36
I think we need to wait and see, I recall reports where Keith Wyness said we had planned for the worst case scenario so fingers crossed we hear from the club soon.

We have a very short window before the new season so it will be a busy summer - A lot needs to happen, and quickly, but if we get it right we could be in for an exciting season, and promotion, I really believe that but we need to act now, not in 2 weeks time, not after the world cup, now.

28 May 2018 14:54:17
Bk1982

I admire your belief in saying a exciting season and promotion but I can't see it if I'm honest,
I really hope we do that but the defeat on Saturday has took us back years to recover in my view.
All these players that need to be shipped out over a short pre-season and players to come in to replace is a tall order in my view
A lot of our players will not go due to there wage demands not met,
We have a player in Richards who is on 56 grand a week yet he is sitting on backside doing Jack s**t
We will be losing money on Hogan if he goes,
I could go on and on,
But I agree with you the board must act now and tell us fans there plans for next season.

Think me and you are keeping this blog going!

28 May 2018 16:01:34
Is Bruce given another season is the first thing that needs sorting. And that needs sorting this week one way or another. Then once manager is sorted plans need starting asap on how we approach next season.

28 May 2018 16:05:56
I will be very disappointed if we hear nothing from the board before end of week.

28 May 2018 16:21:24
Is Richards past redemption? If we can't ship him out can he be brought back into the fold?

28 May 2018 16:24:52
Likewise, we need an update from the club - Ideally that they have parted company with Bruce, not a fan of calling for mangers heads but he failed to get us promoted and we need a new voice / style of play.

28 May 2018 16:40:26
Got a feeling Bruce will be here next season,

28 May 2018 10:57:54
The Fulham manager was spot on with his comments about villa we are a tired old side,
At the time when he said it I brushed it off and thought villa would have a big advantage in ramming his comments down his throat but it failed miserably.

28 May 2018 09:29:46
These are my choices of who I would get rid of,
Plus the players who would leave anyway,

Johnston
Elmo
Terry
Adomah
Houlinan
Taylor
Snodgrass
Kodiaj
Anonma
Gardner
Jedi
Thor
Grabban
Whelan
Hogan
McCormack
Samba
Richards

I know that's a massive list but needs must now,
It will need a massive building job but I can't see it any other way,
Plus we have not any money to use except what we bring in,
And even most of that will go towards the Money we are losing every week,
Heard we are losing 2 million every week?
Although another report said 800 thousand a day?
That defeat has really kicked us where it hurts.

28 May 2018 09:54:41
I think that would be extremely risky Mainbob, that's the majority of our starting 11 and a chunk of our bench you are talking about.

We know these players are leaving after their loan spell / contract has ended, so instantly we are down 8 players.

Johnston
Snodgrass
Grabban
Onomah
Tuanzebe
Terry
Hutton
Agbonlahor

From your list I would look to offload the following - That's an additional 6 players.

Taylor
Gardner
Whelan
Samba
McCormack
Richards

So, 14 players in total, that is significant surgery and a lot of bodies to replace in the summer.

We can supplement the squad with youth players in certain areas but I would be reluctant to lose all our experience.

I think we should look at bringing Onomah and Tuanzebe back next season, I'm not Onomahs biggest fan but perhaps under a new manager he could flourish - That would also help maintain some stability.

Do you think Gollini and Gil have a future at Villa? Gil in particular could be quite useful under new management.

28 May 2018 10:47:47
Bk1982

Gil I did like but his he a player Bruce would play?
Gollini has said he wants to stay in Italy.
Onamah will go back to spurs I think,
Think I saw somewhere that tuanzebe will stay for another year,

Our problem is who will buy the likes of Richards who is on 56 grand a week?
I know I have put up a big list but we do need major surgery now,
Just be interesting if Bruce stays or goes!

28 May 2018 11:19:38
I think we need to hear from the Club immediately, we have very little time to get our house in order so the owner and powers that be need to act, and act quickly.

I believe we had a plan in place if, worst case scenario, we weren't promoted so I hope that includes relieving Bruce of his duties and installing a progressive manager ASAP.

Do you think Grealish will stay? I think he will give us one more year, perhaps that is heart over head but I feel he will stay. Wishful thinking perhaps!

Who would you like to come in in terms of manager and playing staff?

Depending on how much we have to spend I'd consider the following.

Dean Henderson - BUY
Axel Tuanzebe - LOAN
Rob Holding - LOAN
Jonas Knudsen - BUY
Ollie Watkins - BUY
Josh Onomah - LOAN

Henderson

Tuanzebe/ Chester/ Holding/ Knudsen

Bjarnason

Onomah/ Grealish

Gil/ Kodjia/ Watkins.

Bk1982
I agree with your choice of players to come in,
We do need to know from the owner and wyness what they are planning and we need to know as soon as possible
As for the manager if Bruce is sacked then garado would be my choice but unlikely to happen,
Big sam for me a big no.
Everywhere he goes fans moan about his style of football and I don't want that again,
Plus he wants massive wages,
Dean Smith would be a popular choice with most fans but got a feeling he could end up at derby.
But it's no good talking about replacements really because Bruce is still here,

28 May 2018 09:23:34
I don't believe it is even up for debate, Bruce should be removed from his position with immediate effect - Totally agree with your points on stability AVillaFan but the sad fact is Bruce has failed to win promotion despite having one of the strongest, most expensive and experienced squads in Championship history, this is not acceptable and as a result we are forced down a more frugal and dangerous path.

That being said, I think we are in a very fortunate position where we have some potentially outstanding youth team members waiting in the wings - RHM, Davis, O'Hare, Green should / will all have massive roles next season but we need a manager who can develop and nurture these players - Bruce is not that man.

For me the obvious candidate is Dean Smith - Brendford play technical attacking football and Smith has a philosophy which embraces youth and pace. We need a manager like this going forward, experience is very useful but too often this season we have looked slow and laboured, an injection of pace and youth is sadly required - And if we get it right we really could have an exciting team next year.

Yes the money is gone, yes we are in a potentially new era for Aston Villa (albeit a potentially short one, I hope) but it can be an exciting one - Bare in mind Fulham and Cardiff didn't have parachute payments, likewise Brighton and Huddersfield so promotion can be achieved. BUT, and its a massive but, we need to get it right this summer and that starts by removing Bruce as manager.

Finally, WE NEED TO KEEP GREALISH! If he leaves then it really doesn't matter what we do, it doesn't matter if we get 50M for him, we won't be able to replace him, he needs to stay.

28 May 2018 09:20:56
I would also like a long term manager but that can only happen if you have the right manager. Football has change you can't defend an play hoof ball anymore years ago yes it worked but it don't anymore that's why moyes and Big Sam are always looking for work. We need a young attacking manager who belives in possession football and youth and has a philosophy very much like the Fulham manager he wouldn't change his style and the players love playing nice stuff the fans love watching it. You can only have a long term manager when you have all these things. Our manager doesn't how a philosophy he has spent a fortune on old players that simply can't run like they once could and more worrying the players he signed on a proper deal he don't seem to want to play he just wants to play the loan players his got. Also has anybody noticed the weight of him again? It doesn't set a good example to the players. I would say thanx Bruce but time for a fresh approach. Massive issue we will have is FFP things are really bad some of you don't understand how bad this is. We have asked for a meeting with Wyness to see how the club goes forward last time we spoke he said it was Unthinkable if we didn't go up but has a plan in place. When asked if we didn't go up would Bruces job be safe he said we are not giving any reassurances at this point so will be intresting for us fan groups to get a meeting again we usually have 1 before the start of the season anyway. The club has a lot to do this summer and a short time to do it in.

{Ed001's Note - bit harsh picking on his weight. The guy is under immense stress just managing a big club and then loses both parents in a short amount of time. Stress is a huge contributing factor to weight gain. That seems unduly personal and I doubt any of the players care what weight he is.}

28 May 2018 11:16:41
Leave his mom and dad out of it we can't keep him because his a awful manager his been fat for years nothing to do with his mom and dad its not professional when your in sport to be obese he was pictured in a kebab shop when his mom and dad was alive so stress has nothing to do with it.

{Ed001's Note - why is it unprofessional? He is not competing, he is the manager. You seem to be just being a dick again with personal, nasty insults and it is not right. If you want to be a dick, find a different site because I will ban you. Leave his weight out of it. It is not relevant and just shows what a petty little person you are that you are giving him stick over it.}

28 May 2018 12:37:46
Wtw behave and show some respect to others,

28 May 2018 13:00:01
Ed, well said, I’m afraid walkies just can’t help hisself . No matter what name he’s been under, he’s been determined to club everybody, into his way of thinking . He tells us he’s a proper supporter because he goes home and away, he’s at meetings with his mate Keith . But reading some of his posts, I reckon he’s a 12 year old Walter Mitty .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

28 May 2018 13:14:06
I can't believe what I am reading. i'm currently in Heartlands with my dad and this neanderthal sprouts on about weight to peruse his own personal gain you WTW are a embarrassment to all Villa fans. Steve Bruce has just lost his mom and dad yet he was there on the touchline giving it all for OUR club shame on you shame on you WTW. Well done Ed in putting him in his place.

{Ed001's Note - I just don't see the need to get personal about it, but thank you. If he was a player I could understand, but he is a manager, it does not involve running around a pitch.}

28 May 2018 14:41:06
Davedean you got me, difference is I know my stuff and all you praising bruce for failure and spending a fortune doing is crazy. His football is shocking you will not ever go anywhere with Bruce. I am a lot older than most on here. I am not going to comment anymore now.

28 May 2018 08:57:29
A really worrying thing is this talk of selling the training ground!
If it gets that bad we are really in the brown stuff!
What is happening to our once great club?
Sad togreen see us like this,

Review Of The Day 28th May 2018

28 May 2018 06:30:12
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 28th May 2018

28 May 2018 03:27:10
There appears to be a lot of talk going around about whether Bruce should stay or go after failing to get us promoted so I will share my thoughts, they are of course only my opinions and everyone else is entitled to their own.

I remember back when I was a lad and we went down to division 3 (League one these days) and things looked gloomy back then. We clawed our way back to division 2 and then in 1974 Ron Saunders came along, we won promotion back to division one that season winning the league cup on route, he also went on to win another league cup and to see us crowned division one champions before his departure in 1982.

Following that season after we were crowned champions and whilst in the European Cup quarter finals he fell out with deadly Doug and ended up walking. We went on to win that cup of course but it was with Ron's squad, after Saunders leaving things were never the same and after fighting for all those years to return to glory days slowly declined.

These day's managers are swapped at the first sign of trouble with some clubs having 2-3 in a season with the demand for success being so great, but success doesn't always come instantly and needs to be worked at. I think there is a lot to be gained from having a long term manager, Fergie and Wenger being prime examples elsewhere, Saunders and the great George Ramsay examples at Villa. I never did understand why Ron's problems with Doug couldn't be ironed out given his stature at the club, but after that I was never a fan of managerial change without very good reason, it can have an adverse effect just as it did with Saunders winning squad.

28 May 2018 08:17:10
I too believe in stability in club and changing manager's every year does not help
My gripe with Bruce is down to his lack of tactics and been to defence minded
We had the players to get into top 2 this year that's no doubt
But Bruce's obsession with this experienced player route has backfired on him
Did not use the young players enough and when they did perform they disappeared without trace soon afterwards,
I like Bruce but I wished he would send out our team to attack more and not sit deep on numerous occasions.
He is a manager who believes in not losing first and foremost.
If he is here next season I just pray he changes to a more attacking formation,
To often we have a striker up top with no support and the gap between him and the midfield is far to big.
Now we have massive changes all over again and I really do fear for us now,
It's going to be a very interesting summer coming up,
I'm still not recovered from Saturday and top 2 is the only outcome for me next season,
If we get it nobody knows but we need a massive kick up the backside for everybody concerned,
