Villa going to sign Norwich keeper Jed Steer, 20, who becomes a free agent on July 1 and his arrival will push Shay Given closer to the exit at Aston Villa.
Lambert said "You want competition for places throughout, which is something we didn't have last season
Steer might be a free Agent but he is a youth product and will be in a bit of a compensation wrangle again and Norwich will be looking for a lot of Add ons He won't come cheap
Compensation will be something like 150k at most and add-ons will only be games played which won't be activated for a few years anyway, cheaper than buying a young keeper
Wont total more than 1m at the top end
Nothing changes at Villa does it, Steer is not free agent till the end of his contract, so when was he tapped up to turn down another contract in favour of Villa, And you wonder why we in Norwich have bitter thoughts towards Lambert. The Man's a Snide
That's footballing happens at every club guess why benteke hasn't signed a new contract cause he knows he''ll get more else where having been tapped up there's no loyalty in football only fans are loyal
Thought the rules were, if your contract was up at the end of the season, from January you were able to speak to another club and have a pre-contract. If so how's he been tapped up? {Ed007's Note - The 6 month rule only applies over different FAs. For players under the same FA the rule is a a month before contract expiry.}
When you enter the last 6 months of a contract you can hold talks with other clubs, nothing snidey about it! {Ed001's Note - only if the club are in a different FA. It is one month when the clubs are in the same FA.}
Tapped up or not he didn't have to leave Norwich if he didn't want to.
He knows Villa are a much bigger and better club than little Norwich. Simples.
Well since its what 10 days before the end of his contract and we've been rumoured to be talking to him for a week or two it was within the last month anyway. If norwich didn't want us to 'tap him up' they should have sorted a contract out ages before we even had a chance. Then again you can't blame PL when it was no doubt jed steer's choice as he will have realised we will be flying higher and faster than norwich ever have and ever will.
Lambert is building Villa up but if and when he leaves i'd expect all these coaches he's brought from Norwich to leave to as now its his 2 assistants and 3 football coaches through the door I hope the lambert reign continues for at least 5 years before he jumps ship though so we can see all this come into fruition.
Norwich have been back in the premier league 2 seasons now going into the third both finish above you who I must say narrowly avoiding religation in both seasons. if all goes to plan for Hougton in this window we will be in this league for the forseable future, Yes I agree Villa is a bigger club than us but look at the place where you are, Bigger population, No need to have a war of words Norwich are on the way back up
You guys also narrowly avoided relegation, and finished above us by a win, keep in mind that this as a massive low for villa and a massive high for norwich. In the last 6 months I have now learnt that old trafford is no longer the theatre of dreams as carrow road is the now it! Since every norwich supported seems to have unreal expectations of what they are capable of achieving.
Some Norwich fans are due for a rude awakening!
You wanna hope there's not another bout of foot and mouth you won't be able to get your cart to the away grounds ohhh arrrh
Theyr all just gutted because we took theyr manager and now keeper go an listen to combine harvester fm and bob for apples in a chip pan mate
