Does anyone have any thoughts on how/ if the Brexit will affect things football related? Is Xia going to have as much money to put in or the same willingness to invest. Will it become more difficult to attract foreign players etc.

24 Jun 2016 20:20:34
This is 1 for KingVilla, myself I'm up £100 on betting leave, winner winner chicken dinner 👍🏻

Well beeb splurt are claiming that foreign players will want more wages due to the devaluation of the pound and that transfer fees will rise, on top of potential issues with granting work permits.

Lets hope Kingy can shed more light on this :)

Thinking of it another way. Less foreign players wanting to come over = more homegrown players allowed the chance to come through = a stronger England team, perhaps?

Lads having a stronger England team is a bloody poor substitute for a poorer league. Remember trying to sign the goalkeeper in January. You remember the guy that may have kept us up, but due to permit issues was a no go. Now apply that to players like ronaldo, berkamp, Henry, ballack. Think it's going to damage the football league.

The league is minor compared to the damage brexit will do to Britain. Hope I'm wrong lads, but over in ireland here we are horrified you've left. London finance have suggested they will relocate to ireland which will take billions out of your finances.

{Ed001's Note - Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Henry and Ballack would all easily get work permits. Pointless scare mongering to suggest this is going to affect the league when you have no idea how the split will work from the EU.}

25 Jun 2016 10:39:44
Not trying to scare monger in anyway. I'm throwing it out there for thoughts from others on here.

{Ed001's Note - you were trying to scare monger, claiming it will cause damage with no evidence that it will. There is no way of knowing whether it will do so or if it will reinforce national identity, which is what makes the English league so popular. It is not like anywhere else in the world, the Prem, even though flooded with foreign imports, still has a unique flavour to it. Brexit could make it even stronger and more popular worldwide. Or it could totally rip it to shreds. No one knows and all the crap in the papers is just that - crap. They talk about house prices dropping, which just means more people can afford to buy a house, which will make for a stronger market, which will increase prices. The pound goes weak, means that exports will increase, strengthening the pound. It is all swings and roundabouts, there is no damage and there is no London finance houses relocating. It is all made up bull.}

25 Jun 2016 10:42:04
Do you think the French/ Germans will make it easy for Britain? I think they will make an example to scare others from considering leaving.

25 Jun 2016 10:50:01
Gonna throw out there Morgan Stanley. Not some non league player, but a major financial in London are looking at dublin or Frankfurt to relocate after brexit. Only takes one or two leave for a domino affect to happen.

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense from Twitter or somesuch social media source.}

Beeb Splurt - nice one ed.

25 Jun 2016 11:08:51
On a lighter note gents:

Marriage and children is like being in the European Union. Someone else claims my money. I can't make the decisions I used to as others now decide what's best for me. My home has been taken over by other people. They don't contribute anything economically, but to be fair they do create lots of jobs.

25 Jun 2016 11:34:35
I actually have a theory that nationalism and triumphism from the success of the home nations in the euros has played a part in the brexit vote. Also Scotland aren't I it an look how they voted!

25 Jun 2016 11:57:26
You know ed I'm a fairly calm methodical sort of guy. I find it very hard to accept your 'scare mongering' suggestion. I've been watching this closely for some time and it is unusual that all major parties swing in behind a vote, but this time they did. Obviously you don't include idiots like boris or farage as they are comical figures of fun.

You may lose all the welfare seekers that are arriving in Britain, but the investment will go as well. Scotland and Northern Ireland will vote to break the union, which is a shame as most here don't want the north back lol. (We couldn't afford to keep them) .

The ostrich approach of head in the sand scare mongering is poor at best. Financials are dumping british shares and the pound is crashing. You decide better off in or out.

25 Jun 2016 12:21:40
Wow, sorry guys, I must of opened the wrong page/ site.
I was sure this was a football forum, it appears I opened a political one by mistake.

The vote has happened, whether you agree or disagree with the outcome, the people have spoken.
What comes from it, good or bad, bad or good, no one knows, yet. But we can either make the best of it, and make it work, or we can sit and pick fault at it.
Today this will happen, or that this won't happen is scare mongering. As you do not know.
The pound was always going to devalue anitially, however it quickly started to recover.

Also to say we can not sign him or them as we are out is bs.
If they are good enough, they will come, if they are in need of a work permit, they can apply, if it helps the national sides, brilliant.

We are villa fans, we are not even in Europe!

What will be, will be, the club will remain, we will remain, is our support of the club not a way of getting away from day to day crap, a release, yet we are now letting the paths cross?!
Jesus!

25 Jun 2016 12:23:03
No one knows how this is going to pan out but at least we had the balls to do it, the EU should of let us have our own way a bit more, arrogance on their part for thinking that we wouldn't leave, then this wouldn't of happened? Back to football, having a strong national side is a good thing for any country's morale and the economy, cricket, rugby and athletics can be included in that

Is a very courageous, brave decision. No one can argue that, but then the same could be said for the charge of the light brigade.

25 Jun 2016 14:17:24
Some of the topics here are way off what I was asking. I didn't want a political debate just whether or not football and Villa specifically could feel the initial effects whilst we try and rebuild our club this summer.

{Ed002's Note - It will make no difference.}

25 Jun 2016 14:40:13
Does this mean we can't import Gabby to the furthest part of the EU from B6 now? Dang! 👎🏻

25 Jun 2016 17:50:37
If we buy good solid players from the Brittish Isles we should be ok, if foreign players want more money because The Pound is weaker, they've got their priorities wrong and wouldn't care to have them anyway?

After Westwood first season at VP one of the Eds on this site stated that he would soon play for England.
He is always willing to take the ball, never hides but sometimes lacks the killer ball.
We should keep him and let him develop in the champs, then when we return with a team that moves forward he could blossom.
Before anyone says he has had plenty of time already, consider all of this time was with us in a constant fight for survival.

Have just seen reports man utd want to send Jsmes Wilson out on loan. With us their preferred destination, was a lot of hype around him years ago.
