I agree with what everyone is saying on here this squad will not get us promoted, we need some new faces at the club, for me a new RB, a winger an attacking midfielder and 2 strikers.

23 Jul 2016 22:44:08
First let me say i'm signing my own death warrant here but you got to go with what you know, and i apologize in advance to you all for this--we need to sack rdm and bring in steve bruce immediately.

now that would show dr. xia had the cahoonas and vision needed to get us up this season, no offence boys but i'd trust brucy bonus more than rdm to get the job done-and yes i know, give him a chance, don't be so stupid and quick to bin him before he's had a go, but facts are facts, brucy has got the t-shirt and wrote the book, that and his knowledge of the division and players he could attract, he should be our manager, and that's stone cold true, and you know it.

i don't give a stuff he used to manage the knuckle draggers, he'd get us up and then some, so ta ta, i think i'll take a step away and allow you all the time to come round to my way of thinking (or maybe not! )
Pelters ahoy!

23 Jul 2016 22:56:55
Contempt is what that deserves.

23 Jul 2016 23:38:46
Seriously, this is the daftest of your quotes mate. And let's face it, the back catalogue is pretty extensive.
I'll qualify that statement with logic however (one of us might as well give it a go)
What you are proposing is to take a club recovering from chaos and uncertainty and plunge it straight back in there, 2 weeks before the start of the most important season in living memory. And here's the rub, you're not suggesting it because Pep Guardiola has revealed he's a Villa fan and has always wanted the chance of managing in the championship for a tenth of what he can make at City.
No, you want to do it get Steve Bruce.
As you say, the pelters will come; at least you've judged something correctly.

24 Jul 2016 00:35:47
Someone get me a noose quick and no one call Clint Eastwood either.

24 Jul 2016 01:12:09
Lost for words, we win, you moan, we lose, you moan,

Outrageous, shock posting, again.

24 Jul 2016 05:17:39
Obvious troll is obvious.

24 Jul 2016 10:15:56
All that's wrong with 82's suggestion is that his timing's off. Don't know the ins and outs of why Bruce left Hull but he's done an O'neill on them and dropped them in it just before the season starts. Hindsight will tell him that he should of quit after he got them promoted, he could of had the pick of a few jobs then, the Villa job included. Now then. we've got to stick with RDM and give him a chance and having Steve Clarke around can't do us any harm? He's made some good signings so far, his next signings will define our season and Dr Tony's ambition

UTV.

24 Jul 2016 10:27:15
Allyp1972 his timing and the fact that it's Bruce is everything that's wrong with it mate
I agree with everything else you say though.

24 Jul 2016 10:33:11
WHAT! I am assuming that you spent too much time in the sun this week 82.
Fail, words and me spring to mind.

24 Jul 2016 10:37:39
Not trolling; as for 2 weeks before the season starts, martin o'neill springs to mind, yes brucey is no pep or not that standard, but he would i feel get us promoted this season, contempt and pelters were to be expected, but if look at the stats for brucey, i feel the logic is sound, yes your right about the club needing stability after years of turmoil, but again i feel brucey would be a calming influence both on and off the pitch, no discourtesy but with rdm this is still a learning curve.

yes steve clarke has the experience from reading, but that was only gor a year or so, so to me, the fella with the most experience is brucey, the one the players will feel more at ease with is brucey and also brucey has been through seasons in the championship, its a war of attrition, a hard slog and spirit sapping, i don't think you can underestimate the importance of a manager who can motivate players at this level;it ain't no cake walk, i didn't expect a round of applause;and thank you boys for frank and open replies, but come winter with 3 games a week, would you want your team playing attractive open football, or defensive, hitting on the break.

i always thought that it was defences that really win games in this league, and by the way, we're just the fans;but from june we've all said we need at least 2 new strikers, and here we are less than w weeks 2 go and still waiting to confirm at least 1 new striker, i'm sure there maybe something in the pipeline on this, but the closer it gets the more the prices will go up as other clubs end up sniffing around too.

so yes, i ain't going to win any popularity contests on here, but if we wanna go up this season, show some steel and get brucey in, he's on the market now, we may not get another chance, i don't want to look back and regret not nabbing him while we can, but i know i'm in the club of 1 on here on this issue, but whatever happens, we need 2 strikers and an experienced midfield general i think, the clock is ticking, i hope and prey rdm and clarke have some deals almost done.

24 Jul 2016 10:55:28
And thus spoke Mrs Bruce.

24 Jul 2016 10:58:12
I wanted Alladyce, that wouldn't of worked out lol. Sorry 82 but you ain't going to sway them on this 1. Avfc10 is right on the players/ positions we need to strengthen, 4 more quality players and we'll go up as Champions, let's trust RDM and Clarke to pick them out for us

UTV.

24 Jul 2016 22:45:23
Back to reality Classof82.

1) In order to get Bruce we would have to buy RDM out of his entire contract, a colossal waste of money.

2) I'm sure you would want him to bring his own backroom staff in with him that he is comfortable with and trusts so all of RDM's have to be paid off too. More wasted money.

3) Then he has got a few weeks to assess the team, identify the weaknesses and buy in replacements on a shoe string budget because we flushed it away paying people off.

4) He might decide Tshibola and Gollini aren't his style of players (not his players) so the money RDM spent to get them is wasted too.

And its just unfair to RDM on a moral level because you have no evidence to suggest Bruce would be a significant improvement.

I don't think its actually possible to be this silly hence I reiterate my previous response - Obvious troll is obvious.

23 Jul 2016 20:12:48
Trying to be constructive here: nothing that most of us don't realise anyway.
I am afraid tonight was again same old same old, no drive or creativity from midfield, clumsy tackling, and glaringly obvious no real bite or threat up front.
All needs to be sorted very quickly now, it`s getting close now.
I am not moaning, just stating it as it is, Nantes are not a good side at all.
At Rovers we were better but messed with the ball too much, the back of the net is the target for pete`s sake.
I feel sorry for RDM to be honest, there is a lot of crap that he has inherited from last season that needs to go ASAP.

23 jul 2016 21:32:04
i completely agree with you mate somethinks got to be done my conclusion b4 we start the season is we have a very poor squad now a lot of people wont buy our players due to them bein that bad and looks like rdm can't buy anymore till there gone so we are stuck. our chairman said he was going to get creative midfielders and strikers with bulits but we are still waiting on them. iam not being negative and if iam its aston villa who have made me negative after so many years of losing everyweek. people on here slate me but do they really look at this team and rate it? was they not there last season? we need incomings qwickly we need at least another 5 players if you think last seasons squad is going to come straight back up shows how little you know about football we didn't only go down but we was terrible 3wins out of 38 games. the effort is not there at the moment to improve if there waiting to sell players they will wait till hell freezes over people have watched us play that's why they don't want our players! he has to start buying up contracts as no1 will buy it! 1 bit of good news is amavi an ayew are staying and at least we have a chairman that talks to the fans but he has to start doing a bit more action now!

23 Jul 2016 22:18:58
Friendlies mean nothing. just fitness exercise.

23 Jul 2016 22:45:47
Prob, Agree to a point, but if we lost 5 - 0 to the noses in a friendly would you have the same opinion would you? I doubt it very much.
And it is a bit more than a fitness exercise mate, things are put into practice and tried., trust me.
Pointless playing 8 friendlies pre-season losing them all and then expecting your team to be full of confidence on the opening day, get real.

23 Jul 2016 23:42:09
We didn't lose 5-0 to the noses though did we. RDM gave the bunch from last season the chance to show HIM what they can do. Now he knows
I've seen loads of pre-season friendlies and never seen a good one yet.

24 jul 2016 00:06:05
any idea what we should do with these players who you say are no good? nobody wants them and we can't release them because they wont agree to it this part of football i don't like looks like we are in the same situation we was with zogbia but now we have 6 of them like it. my problem is i think its stopping us buying players as we have so many on the books so mate what would you do with them? play them an we lose an put them in the reserves we are still paying them! i must say on tonights friendly was decent run out an always nice to win. where was our hit man gabby agbonlahor?

24 Jul 2016 00:26:19
Its not as bad as it looks. Admittedly we need 4 or 5 incomings over the next month. I believe we'll do that comfortably and logically the transfer market for ALL teams goes crazy over the last two weeks of the window. Keep the faith!

24 jul 2016 00:54:56
i will do mate just when i was on the train coming back from stourport game these wba fans were saying we are pride midlands and there a better team than us i tryed to argue our corner but they simply said we are premier league i really didn't like it 1 bit infact iam not a violent man but i really wanted to hit them but instead i told them about our attendances an cups we won! it means a lot to me to be in the premiership an top dogs that's why my posts are negative sometimes because i want to put right what's happening to our team! i take your point mate.

{Ed007's Note - You're not the guy Baggies are bragging about forcing to do The Slosh on a train are you?}

24 Jul 2016 01:28:18
lol no mate but what is the slosh anyhow?

{Ed007's Note -

24 Jul 2016 09:50:37
Jack and Victor on here!
2 of my heroes.
That's plenty!

24 Jul 2016 12:33:26
Sorry I'm a little late replying to this but would like to have my 2 cents. Juventus were beaten in a friendly by Melbourne Victory, do we see them hitting the panic button. No, friendlies are a chance to assess fringe players to see what role they may play during the season as well as providing match fitness to the likely starters. Have we yet seen a friendly where we have played our likely starting 11 for 90 minutes? No. We are not playing our first team so we can't judge the team, only individual performances, and my guess is that RDM and Steve Clarke will be the harshest judges.

23 Jul 2016 19:05:07
Didn't realise Gestede was playing till the 43rd min the guy is truly shocking reminds me of a man whose got a turtles head and piles you know it's their buts it's painful to watch🐌🐌🐌.

23 Jul 2016 17:21:40
I thought Vertout was leaving, surprised he's playing today.

23 Jul 2016 15:24:30
There seems to be some for and some against concerning Ravel Morrison so here is my spin. Yes the man has issues and could be seen as a risk player but wasn't Luis Suárez also seen as a risk when he signed for Liverpool, I know he remained a bad lad but he also did a lot of good for Liverpool during his time there and even now he remains one of the most deadliest of strikers in football and who can tell me that you would not like to see him in claret and blue?

23 Jul 2016 17:45:45
I wouldn't like to see him in a villa shirt.
However, I do see your point!
I personally think he is worth a chance.

23 Jul 2016 18:12:29
For another club, you know, like one not totally brimming over with dickheads, Morrison might be worth a punt. When you still have Bacuna, Gabby and Lescott your focus needs to be on getting idiots out the door rather than weighing up the risk of bringing another one in
Sorry, this potential transfer is wrong on too many levels for me.

23 Jul 2016 18:29:44
That's a great point, however if he gets rid of the nobs, then it might be a stroke of genius. Or suicide!

23 Jul 2016 20:33:03
That's a big if though Flackie
I'd still prefer no knobs at all. We've all worked with them. It only takes one to upset the environment you are trying to work in.

24 Jul 2016 01:19:09
Fair point mate.

24 Jul 2016 05:25:19
Could the same gripe not be leveled at Grealish - Young lad acts immature. I don't see anyone calling for him to be sold. let's face it, we aren't in a good position right now so if we want a higher calibre of player they are going to come with baggage. If RDM thinks he can get him to fall in line then it could be a fantastic shout.

24 Jul 2016 10:58:22
Yes mate, it could be levelled at Grealish. That's exactly my point. We have more than enough of them already.

23 Jul 2016 14:24:57
Has anyone else noticed that we are currently top of the Championship table? Let's hope we still are at the beginning of next May.

23 Jul 2016 14:07:05
So Moyes has gone to Sunderland which, in my mind, confirms that he thinks so highly of his own ability that wasn't willing to drop to the Championship to manage us. Git. Hope he gets relegated.

23 Jul 2016 15:14:27
I think we got the better deal!

23 Jul 2016 13:08:58
Looking forward to watching Villa tonight at least there are streams available :)

23 Jul 2016 08:45:12
A new era is nearly upon us,
I feel as if we are going into the unknown with this league, manager, owner, and players, I feel we are missing some decent signings to our rivals, I was reading something last night about Sheffield Wednesday will blow us out of the water on the opening day (hope not ) but I would like to see body's comeing in soon as possible, I'm not saying go out and start throwing money around but we must have targets buy now all this talk about mccormack (he did travel with Fulham pre season ) let's go get him now, morrison I think would be a good signing if only if he get ship out some the other trouble makers he can change a game and if we go he is capable of playing in the prem if his head is in it, I'd like Walters very hard worker always gives 100% not the most pleasant on the eye but a great team player, Mcgeady could do a job for us aswell a trick or 2 and chip in with odd goal or 2, I'm not his biggest fan but I do feel we missed out on Barton, it's getting near squaky bum time bring on the new season.

23 Jul 2016 09:59:42
Great post mate, although we do disagree on some of the names mentioned, I totally agree with the points.
One thing is for sure, it's a new dawn for everyone associated with the club, might take us a few games to find our feet. Hope not, but all this negativity on here, you get the feeling if we don't hit the ground running from the first minute, certain people will be on their backs. Sadly we then run the risk of sinking, fast.

We our in danger of living up to the tag we have nationally, of miserable, moaning glass half empty Gits.

Reading certain posts on here, it's well deserved.

23 Jul 2016 22:44:59
Look for the last few years it's been hard been a villa fan been from Ireland I went over last year to a game it cost me €1000 for the weekend was back in work on that Monday I felt like crying to be honest, in truth we are never going to be a Madrid or Barcelona of this world but I would love for this season to go on a bit of a run like 3 or 4 games unbeaten (not to much to ask) when you know u turn on results on Saturday you fairly confident we have won
In life you have ups and downs we don't get to chose
I chose the villa maybe I like the roller coaster ride
If I'm making sense.

23 Jul 2016 03:43:12
Just want to say people need to stop going on about Wat we haven't got because I see a lot of youth players that will be first team next year that will come good Hepburn Murphy, toner, Andre green aswell as the additions we brought in and Wat we have not including we know who the over paid useless foo foos
And Wat else might come threw the door before it shuts I think we have a good squad in my opinion
up the villa
We coming to get you brum!

23 Jul 2016 10:00:53
Well said mate.
