I like the look of Praet and I'd love to see Austin and maybe one of the more speculative, young and promising forwards from the continent that we've been linked with
I still think we need a right-back who is better than Hutton
And possibly another wide player, Townsend being the obvious choice
Oh, and another goalkeeper as well
It sounds a lot but unless we strengthen in these areas I think we are in trouble
Perhaps oddly, I think with Richards, Okore, Clark and Senderos we are not too bad at centre half. I really don't think we will miss Vlaar

My bad lol, either stick Okore in a 3-5-2 or Gil as 2nd No10 in a 4-3-2-1 like how we ended season, got Sanchez in there because I think he'll have a better season, Cambiasso because he's on a free, he's a winner, & we're short on experience, thinking short term solid team because hopefully we'd be taken over by January & have some cash to splash then, spend some of what we've got now on Embolo type players that aren't quite ready for the Prem but could come good

My final word on Benteke.

Lets be honest, players come and go all the time at clubs and Benteke wanted out last season so his heart as never been with the club so it came as no surprise to me that he left. Yes he was a decent player and yes he did score some important goals for us but isn't that the very reason we paid him thousands of pounds each week. When we signed him very little was known about him which shows that there is plenty of talent that out there to replace him so it's not the end of the world. Football is a business after all and it works both ways, how many times do we see a team promoted to the premier league and only then to get rid of half the squad that got them there because they are seen as not good enough. Players will always seek to better themselves be it right or wrong the lure of big wages and playing in the spot light will tempt most players but the pressure to deliver also comes with that and many fail to live up to expectations. So good luck to all those who choose to move on but now it is also time for us as a club to move on, and there is no doubt in my mind that there will be many more great players in the future that will wear our great shirt. :-)

(Could be proven wrong, who really knew what CB was capable of but would much rather see us go for Austin and yes though an unpopular choice feel like adebyor has something to offer)

Rolan for me is a big gamble if we paying over 10 mil. He has had one half good season in the french league. Ok all young players have to start somewhere. He could go on to be a big ben or a Dwight Yorke. Then again he could be a bosko balaban or a savo. Austin for me is the safe bet if we spending over 10 mil.

His goal/ratio is pretty irrelevant as last season was his first playing as a striker and he scored 15 of those. But agree it would be a big gamble

Most players come with an element of risk, be it goal ratio or premier league experience and many are signed that have potential only to turn out a flop. The Villa squad at the moment is finally balanced between premier league status and relegation so the importance of getting it right could carry consequences leading to the un-thinkable. So spend wisely Tim and choose your players with great care, we all have opinions on certain players but ultimately the choice lies with yourself.

I think we should go for sergi samper of barca b. Arsenal looking and he available for about 8 mil. Quality young player and I think ts could sell the villa to him with more playing time than he would get at arsenal. Thoughts guys.

Looks on YouTube like Rolan thrives on crosses, maybe wingers in a 4-4-2 could be the way to go, Gil & Sinclair, with Boy Wonder playing the No10 role?
