Never know a season when all the midlands clubs bar Leicester are terrible. I think west brom will be joining villa in the championship next year as they are very poor and boring just like villa.

Yes we did play well.
We need a couple of strikers, someone who knows where the bloody net is, we are giving teams far too much time to organise when we go forward.
If we do not bring in someone who can score goals we deserve all we get, this has been a problem for far too long and needs sorting.

We would never have got austin anyway. He wouldn't sign with the probability we were going down. I know its all doom and gloom but i agree, if we could get a bent esk signing in the next week and have the impact he had when houllier signed him, we might have a chance. We struggled to score goals with benteke, we were always going to struggle without. Good defence today and if you look at the goals conceded, we're certainly better than the 2 teams above us. Considering gestede's main attrbute, he struggles to score goals with his head. I don't think he's really cut out for prem.

Just a quick thought, how about wellington silva at bolton wonderers, i know it's the championship but i've been watching him for a good few games and not only is he creatively premier league material, but can tackle, is tenatious, good eye for a pass and has a good engine, all game up and down the pitch, buy him and jordan rhodes, not to mention the main man at oxford united, we'd have a very good chance of staying up, what do you reckon editor?

We might with them I agree have a chance of getting back up, but sadly we need to realise that we won't stay up.
We need points, and play one up top at the baggies.
Our manager doesn't play for goals, he plays to not concede. Would rather lose going for a win, than scrape a nil nil.

Missed opportunity there, out played the Baggies all over the pitch . don't know where he's coming from but we are desperate, for a striker . Gill and Gana where brilliant today, so frustraiting when balls are played into the box and nobody there, somebody like Jorden Rhodes should be in there. Time and again, nobody ever attacking the ball, they have got to get in there, Now Ruddy out, it makes a striker a priority.5 games unbeaten and another clean sheet, as others have said, with a decent striker, who knows . Villa forever.

So disappointing that again no finishing power! Listened to Albion callers on radio saying how appalling their team performance was today plus good penalty shout again! A real missed opportunity but not too unexpected I suppose. Winning today would have given us a potential 7 point gap but have been saying the likes for the last few weeks to no avail. As I have said before by the time we start to 'take off' we will be out of runway! 15 games left, sorry still can't see us doing a Leicester last season. VTID.

Very disappointed to see the deal for Kalinic fall through not just because I am desperate for us to sign anyone but because I did my own bit of research on him and he seemed a very good prospect also the fact he was keen to join.
I really don't understand these work permits and how some players and clubs breeze through coming from South America or somewhere and yet Villa seem to have serious issues with them, especially when it comes to goalies. If I remember rightly twice we failed to sign Guzan before we finally landed him cause of work permit issues and I could never understand it.
I've read its harder for goalkeepers because on average they earn less money but I can guarantee he would earn more than most people in the country and therefore pay more tax so why should this make any difference?

Must agree with you Mendax.
This idiot is on a par with Lerner, neither have any idea of what is expected of an owner/ chairman of a football club.
Lerner worked out that there is no profit in a football club, merely breaking even would be a success.
Now we have a Lerner mk2 who tells us that Scrooge has spent massive amounts of money since he bought our football club. The ground looks great but the team would be out of pace on a park pitch.
Has anyone worked out how much has been spent on players since Deadly sold up?
To maintain prem. status about £35m pa is required and without checking I doubt that this amount of money has been spent on players. Most has been spent on the ground and Bodymore Heaths state of the art facilities.
None of our management group will ever get a job anywhere else so I guess we are totally shafted as they will remain in place until we get a turnover of £100 and a profit of £10 and gradually sink like the Titanic into the dark abyss of non league football.
