Can anyone give me a clue as to why Sturridge was allowed to leave AVFC? It was about 2003 when he went to Coventry.

Am I the only one in thinking that although he made a mistake, the ref who sent off the wrong player at Chelsea, may have been right in ignoring the players who pointed out the correct player to send to the stands?
The reason I say this is that week upon week players lie through their teeth, dive for penalties, claim through ins they know are not theirs, feign injury etc etc
Yet all of a sudden a ref is being hung out to dry because he didn't trust the players protestations. Seems a little harsh to me
Would you trust any of them?
