Yes, we lacked a few players, but do you really think with those few players we would have fared any better. Our style of football means that we try to absorb pressure and then counter attack. That is all good and well away, at home however no. Lambert has no plan B, and plan A doesn't always work. Maybe AVB would not fare any better, but I think we need someone new to take us further.
Yes someone new may take us forward but they will require money to buy and money to pay players.
PL is doing what he is told
Cheap buys for him to develop and then possibly sell on and low wages.
It could be argued that his buys are not impressive but we don't know how many players have rejected approaches from Villa.
Our major area of weakness is at the back. Clark is always out of place, pointing waving but not challenging his man. Baker suffers from Clark being in the wrong place and now is low on confidence.
PL knew the size of the task when he took over and to the best of his ability he is doing what he was asked. However, being Villa supporters we are not impressed with the results.
Lerner is very mean and believes that you can run a prem. team and make a profit. What a joke!
Owning a prem. team is about pride and passion not profit.
As supporters we have the pride and the passion, Lerner does not. Until he acts as a Villa supporter, not an owner, we will continue in the way that he has instructed PL.
Lerner may appear to be a benevolent man, donations to Acorns, but this is for his own self esteem not my Aston Villa.
PL will fight on with what he has got and until Lerner sells we will have to settle for little more than Div 1 standards.
Lerner out, ASAP.
Personally I don't understand why lamberts receiving all the criticism, I'd direct that at our chairman for not putting his hand in his pocket for the past couple of years.

It's true that Lerner is largely culpable
However, Lambert is a poor coach and manager
Other teams have achieved more with lower budgets
I would venture that Everton, over the past few years, have a net spend comparable to ours. The difference is that they have had the benefit of good management
Let's not forget, we have spent nearly £20 million on players this season
Got to agree with Mendax, I think PL is more suited to a lower league team but not prem manager villajk
Hi Mendax,
Everton have achieved better league standings than Villa with good management but look at what is happening now. Moyes has gone and MUFC are not what they should be and a manager from a relegated club is moving Everton forward. They are a club run properly from the top. Interesting that Martinez rejected Lerners approach, was he aware of something that we are now fully aware of in terms of cash? There is no doubt that Lerner is holding PL up in development terms by not funding players that we need, and I don't think we have seen the best of PL. He was a hero at Carrow Rd and he got them playing attractive football so where has it gone wrong at VP?
The expectations we have of AVFC are way above what is achievable on the miserly funding that Lerner is allowing PL to spend.
Lerner out ASAP
Personally, when O'Neil left I wished Lerner had gone with him, as well as Faulkner. Yes no-one could know what would happen to Houllier and I wish GH all the best, but Mcleish was awful and although I respect Lambert, he has one plan, and if that doesn't work, we're sunk. Yes it may only be speculation but I do hope Red Bull come in and purchase us, supposedly with Houllier in charge. Whatever the outcome of this season, the politics do not matter to me that much, I love Villa, I always will. And that is all that matters
Hi Mate
I was including the current manager when I said Everton were well managed
I was also including their board. The place has been run, top to bottom on meagre amounts in terms of transfer funds
Swansea are exactly the same
As said above Norwich were playing some decent stuff when Lambert was at carrow road, I was sat in the stands on McLeish's last match calling for Lambert to come to us and would still back him to be honest. The job is a tough one as he's had to strip it all back and start again. Fans are fickle and demand results here an now but I see it as a long term thing and don't think he'll get the chop.
We need a couple/few quality signings in January our midfield has completely collapsed players like Westwood and sylla haven't reproduced any good form, KEA isn't aprem player, tonev is nowhere near prem standard (yet) and Delph is a bit hit and miss.
As it stands I'd bring grealish back and play with him and Albrighton on either wing and play gabby and kozak up top dropping weiman (another poor performer) to the bench.
Midfield maestro and general needed randy! Show us some ambition.
Ramble over
