Bennett terrible. Bowery who? Bannan absolutely useless. Why are we not signing anyone we are in serious trouble. We are Aston villa and we deserve better. We leave Ireland and bent on the bench they have much needed experience and are 2 of our best players. We desperately need a defender and a good defensive midfield player. There are players available and we don't seem to be in the market for anyone. Jon Arne riise is a good experienced lb and would be available on the cheap after a fall out with jol and would give us much needed experience at the back. Yoan Gouffran is available from Bordeaux for 1 million euros and is a good player. Sissoko for around 3 mil. Why are we not going for anyone! A good cb and midfielder please

If true, then presumably PF was reluctant to sanction purchase of players because:

a) the decision had been made when PL came in to pick young players on whom the club has spent money bringing up through the 'famed' academy - he would be justified in claiming that 'Plan A' was still 'the Plan' and blame the failure on PL.

b) money has already been made available to PL and he had spent that on certain (also young) players

c) the team has been so inept under PL of late that to throw good money after bad would be madness

d) there is little faith in PL at the most senior level

e) PF is covering his own back when presumably he instigated the move for PL in the first place (?)

If PF was responsible for employing Houllier and McLeish, those would be reasons enough for him to step down. Clearly RL rates PF, although PF must surely be on dodgier ground than usual at the moment.

The bottom line: PF is responsible for the business of AVFC. Poor performances on the pitch equals relegation equals loss of tv money next season.

PF's only answer, short of resigning (which he won't do) is to sanction the sacking of PL. And bring in RDM.

The previous paragraph is hard to type (and not what anyone wants to believe) but true.

There is no romance in Premier League football.

Why is Bannan even in the matchday squad ? His performances have been poor all season, expecially at Bradford, and he seems to think he has the right to take every corner and free kick, most of which get nowhere near the target zone.

Think most fans with a smattering of football knowledge can see that we need fresh faces (decent quality players) in midfield and at the back

Only reason that I can think of is the fact he's scottish, PL and AM both played him cause he's from their native homeland, or so he can translate team talks?

P.s. that was sarcasm, based on the fact that he's quite literally useless at anything else, he plays football worse than he drives!

Why do people say we need experiance, all we need is quality, look at the man united squad of 1994-1995 with an average age of 24, the only difference is they had quality: Giggs Scholes Beckham ect {Ed001's Note - yes but their team had a lot of experience, and that was the year Blackburn won anyway. It mostly had Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Parker, Ince, Dublin, McClair, Kanchelskis, Hughes and Cantona in it. There is a misnomer that they won it with kids because of the quote by Hansen, they never had a team of kids. They had a core of experienced pros, then a few kids on top of that.}
