i know we have been very active in transfer window and seem to brought in a few good looking players but i'm starting to wonder at what point (supposedly) lower rep teams became a better option than us. now is it a wage cap thing? is it manager just not looked at that player? or did we bid and the player just laughed?

cabaye, wijnaldum, clasie, caulker, steklenburg (remember southampton only been back few years in prem), shaqiri, afelly, m'vila, ayew (big bro), diamanti, capoue, lambert, rondon, ogbonna. all as far as i feel are highly rated and could boost our team,

i also this don't include players that have gone to bigger teams like begovic, or moved to poor team from the prem and as i was writing i forgot inler has signed for leicester for about 3 mill, solid midfielder would have loved him to sign

My local pub team took on a new player this week, why did he not sign for villa??? Did you think TS didn't want to sign the players you listed?

Maybe, just maybe, we didn't want them??!

I bet you as a child looked at everyone else's Christmas presents and wanted them.

I bet fans of teams who consider themselves bigger than us look at several of our signings this summer and say 'why join them not us?'. Several of them were linked with other teams. Look on the bright side and just wait for TS to hypnotize Ronaldo into joining us.

How many other clubs are looking on enviously at our signings of Amavi, Traore, Gana and Richards ?
Quite a few I reckon

What difference would it make? I don't understand what you wanna get? We've signed 9-10 players yet it seems your still not happy. just get behind the team

Of those players listed, many of them have issues - mainly excessive transfer fees, excessive wages and age meaning there is no sell on fee potential. Compare them to the player we have brought in. Richards is at a prime age and cost nothing and has gone on to be given the armband, so well worth the high wages. Amavi, after only a couple of games has garnered universal praise and when he moves on, we will make a massive profit.

We have a framework in which we have to work (Basically the player sales money and maybe 15-20 million extra) and I can only see maybe one more signing coming in this season - If we had gone in for some of the ones listed we would not have been able to bring in as many recruits as we have, and we really did need the 10+ players in to begin the rebuilding process.

I was just going through the transfer odds on a few online book makers and it's surprising who they have us linked with. I thought I'd write them below. Would be good to see if anyone thinks they're realistic. I'm sure some if not most are.

Aaron Lennon 7/4 2nd fav
Andros Townsend 6/4 fav
Ben Marshall ?? 12/1 4th fav
Callum Wilson 6/1 2nd fav
Charlie Austin way out at 33/1
Berbatov 4/5 odds on fav
Adebayor 8/1
Llorente 33/1
Grant Hanley 10/1 3rd fav
Jeff Hendrick 2/1 fav ????
Fonte 6/4 fav
Klass Han huntelaar 16/1 (yes please)
Kyle walker 4/1 fav
Jonny Evans 2/1 2nd fav

There are more with remy, crouch, van djik, bolsasse, barton but all 10/1 or worse. Anyone fancy us getting any of the above or anyone up there you just wouldn't want?

Personally I would love lennon, Townsend, fonte, and believe or not adebayor!

Get his head right, and he would score more goals than Rooney.
I don't care if he doesn't live in area, if he turns up for training, and gives his all in a match.

I know I'll get shot down for this, but hey ho!!

townsend, austin, huntelaar and remy i wouldn't say no too.

austin may only have had one good season but i think he's got a future if he can get the games, same as townsend,

huntelaar is a proven goal scorer but given his age think he could still bang in a few.

remy is being killed at chelsea he needs out before he's careers over
