If we're struggling now imagine how bad it will be when African cup is on.
Rdm needs time to gell the team we've been poor for 5 years it's not gona change overnight.

If you could bring back any manager to manage Aston Villa now who would it be?

18 Sep 2016 20:24:22
Ron Saunders in a heartbeat.

18 Sep 2016 20:44:16
With you all the way Villadave. He was class.

18 Sep 2016 21:08:04
He was class Jack, he built his team like a brickie builds a wall, a bit at a time.
The final piece was a coping stone on top called Peter Withe, β€œGreat” it brings a tear to the eye.

18 Sep 2016 21:32:05
Saunders, Atkinson, Little any of those.

18 Sep 2016 21:58:12
Ron Saunders was a class act. Remember the season we won the title, we played 14 games against 7 Midland teams and never lost a game. He made each player believe that they were the best in the world. Great memories.

How sad we are looking back more than twenty years, we should be looking for a viable option now. Clearly the fact we are harking back to the past suggests we are in dire straits. We all know the stats one win in twenty one league games no away win for nearly 14 months.

25 million spent and we can't manage a shot on goal against Ipswich and we see positives that we didn't loose and didn't concede what a joke. That may be acceptable to the extreme loyalists but to those of us with emotional scar tissue it doesn't wash.

I overheard heard the most saddening banter in the pub this afternoon from a Small Heath crowd, they mocked our "Birmingham are you listening chant" we're not listening we are sniggering they said. It really hit home the depths we have slumped to. We need to restore pride to our great club and we need it soon before it's too late.

18 Sep 2016 21:42:28
what do you think Ron Saunders would do with Westwood.

19 Sep 2016 15:56:49
plenty will disagree but i like oneil personally i'm 35 and that's the best time as a villa fan i remember just shame he left the way he did, brian little would be a definite too.

19 Sep 2016 19:42:32
10* man.
The one and only Ron Saunders.

Adding another option who would you not want back.
This list could be long!

19 Sep 2016 21:15:24
most of the last 10 years.

19 Sep 2016 21:41:43
John Gregory or tim sherwood. all of the above are greats but would not cope now with the modern game. I still think sherwood would of got it right and done well. under the good doctor letting him get his own players in would do a good job. and as for Gregory just loved the ego of the guy. I'm more than happy with rdm for now though.

20 Sep 2016 01:40:57
Oh my goodness I totally agree with a kingy post!

{Ed007's Note - I can't believe nobody mentioned Billy McNeill. }

20 Sep 2016 17:21:10
Wasn't his nickname titanic?

20 Sep 2016 19:56:09
Spot on KingVilla πŸ‘πŸ» always pmsl when I think about a post match interview Gregory gave after a game against Sunderland, they got a dodgy free kick which they scored from, Gregory said 'and it seems that Don Hutchinson borrowed Emile Heskey's roller skates! ' Class πŸ‘πŸ»

UTV.

When oh when will Westwood be dropped from the side, it's no surprise gana is going great guns now he's not paired with him in midfield.

18 Sep 2016 19:59:05
It seems like Aston Villa strengthend everywhere but the midfield really that's why westwood still plays we needed more than 2 midfielders.

19 Sep 2016 16:03:03
everyone moans saying westwood needs dropping and that gardender needs dropping, or they stress when they are both picked.

but can someone please tell me who going to play instead of them? tish spends more time in the physio room than the actual physio and the aussie outside of international week is injured too. we have no one else, i'm sure some people just moan for the sake of moaning.

The next game against Newcastle, I think is the most important game we have had for a long time, for the following reasons . Our home record over the last few years is very poor, we have already lost approx 3000 home fans already this season, taking in to consideration the away following, another bad performance could be a major blow, I already would take 6 th in the league , considering our start and injury list, we have always got to remember we haven't won away in 13 months and not won from being behind in 40 odd games, a special mention to the brilliant away fans, we will be taking 5600 midweek to Preston, how long can they keep going until it starts getting toxic, final point should we start tish and a a on Saturday after a weeks training, depending if Mac is fit, no gestade is bad news .

18 Sep 2016 14:51:26
Just picking up on your point about things becoming toxic. I don't disagree with you but why is this?
Other teams have been through similar spells without the fans turning on the players. Why is it that a large amount of Villa fans seem most happy when things are miserable?
We seem most animated and engaged when things are going poorly. An alien would think we enjoy it.

18 Sep 2016 19:11:10
lol we are so used to it bein bad we don't no any other way in a year an a half we have won 4 games as a club if we win fans will be happy trust me.

18 Sep 2016 19:11:42
We play Preston on a Saturday I have a ticket.

20 Sep 2016 01:50:01
Great post Mike, love/ hate the stats! It's a massive game, I think we just need to play attacking fearless football and go on the basis that 'we're going to score one more than you'. The amount of money been spent by the club an by the fans (tickets, travel etc) we deserve that even if we are used to seeing our team draw at best!
