Bobvillian - as many have said over the sands of time on here, if we keep chopping and changing managers then nothing will be achieved, people have quoted leeds and their hiring and firing, and some point to how well Sheffield Wednesday are doing by sticking by their Portuguese 'man of war'. however, it seems carvalhio may be losing his job to pardew, if pardew agrees a deal, and as for us and bruce, yes his record speaks for itself for promotion.

however i must agree with you, for those out there who want to disagree, let them, most of them said the same about RDM, and we know how that worked out! -look at jaap stam at reading, he's gone in, and turned a club with no special talent (no discourtesy meant to reading) into a well oiled machine, they've knocked out fulham (the favourites to go up) and done it on a budget of tuppence, and more over, he's got them playing to a system that makes them look good and punch a lot higher than they have any right too.

so Bobvillian, ignore those on here who call you a clown and belittle your opinion, their the same ones who told some of us on here to stop saying rdm wasn't the right manager for us, they seem to have quickly forgotten that their not so good at seeing potential either.

if we have any cahoonas we should try and go for the likes of stam, or marco silva, but as usual the little clique on here will muscle up and try and brow-beat those who won't put up with a dogs' dinner of a team, a proper manager would have whooped them into shape within 5-8 games, we all know it, we just don't want to admit he's not going to get us up any time soon, that's the truth unfortunately, but as usual act like it'll be fine, well it won't, unless we do something right now.

As for others who call me
a clown well coco is my middle name so who cares?
It's all about opinions as you know to well,
I don't dislike Bruce as a person at all,
He was just was not my choice of a manager to take us on to the next level,
Tactics wise he is a dinosaur,
But that's only my opinion,
I leave it to others to judge,

17 May 2017 12:58:34
Negativity breeds negativty.

17 May 2017 19:37:28
I can't believe they gave him the job knowing he wasn't your first choice, they do have egg on their faces now.

17 May 2017 23:26:33
We must have the most negative people I say people because they are not supporters of our club why can't you get it into your thick skulls that our club has been in a mess for years and to build it back in 1 season from top to bottom is a job in its self it's simple if you don't back then go and watch cricket or support another club because the likes of you are not wanted as supporters.

And so the brow-beating begins, let's say bruce does a great job and gets us promoted, who on here thinks he can mastermind a campaign that'll have us mid-table if not higher? any takers?

i doubt it, football has moved on but bruce hasn't, can anyone tell me what calderwood has brought to us that has had a stark effect? yet the brighton players all said they enjoyed the training sessions and how he tried out new ideas which kept them interested, he comes to us, and what?

thats the point, people slag off allardyce, but forget he brought back sports science techniques from playing in america and helped transform bolton; he's always looking to improve the players and if they don't get it, he'll change tack till they click, can you honestly say bruce is as open or willing to seize the initiative?

he'll stay and i hope he gets us up but let's be honest, you can see the players are mentally bored, just the same usual routine, like groundhog day, remember when graeme taylor (God rest his soul) joined us, his enthusiasm was contageous, the same with sherwood, big ron, they were prepared to think outside the box, can you say the same for brucey?

look at conte at chelsea, man alive his passion is infectious, our players look like they've become robots sometimes, hopefully brucey will come back energized and hungry, otherwise its another season of dogs-dinner football.

Just out of curiosity who is the best side you have seen down Villa Park this season Bob and Classof82?

18 May 2017 09:45:47
Villadaz - you said it takes more than a year to sort the club out; how long did it take stam at reading, monk at leeds, warnock at cardiff? i think it took them roughly no more than 8 games to turn it around.

bruce's job is the first team, others are in place for any other club business, and bear in mind none of them have spent anywhere near what we have, we have a wealth of talent others envy, 'all the gear and no idea springs to mind, we all want us up again, but the obvious question is why can't we play just 1 game, that's 90 minutes, of football where we actually reach our potential, not 10 minute bursts, followed by simple schoolboy mistakes on a regular basis.

when was the last time you went to the game, with pride and passion in your heart and on the pitch, so to say it takes more than a season doesn't ring true to me, look at redknapp, there's no way he should have kept the knuckle draggers up, they had no optimism and were fighting amongst themselves when he stepped in, they could've got a draw easily against us, and he kept them up, that's the point, like the likes of big ron, warnock, allardyce, marco silva, they get players on side from the start.

no need for a season to sort it out, and remember, harry's squad was threadbare and well under achieving, we got no excuses, but for some reason, you and others on here seem to be making excuses for him, if he proves me wrong then great, but with no real budget, let's see if bruce can inspire the squad.

Jesus swept but non of the clubs you have mentioned have been in turmoil like us for the last 5-6 years we was a proven PL club it's a shock to the system we have had to rebuild sack RDM (Who I didn't want but backed) and get a proven championship manager in to get us out of this league I seem to remember when Bruce came he gave us a lift and got us out of the relegation battle I hope beyond all hope he gets it right so you moaners can crawl back under your stones and stay there oh and you never answered my question from my previous post.

Villadaz
Sure ain't aston villa that's a fact!
Take your pick really,
We have being outplayed by almost every team if I'm honest,
Our best display was away to Brighton,
1 good performance in 30+ games,

18 May 2017 13:26:33
We have taken points off all the top teams in this division including the 2 that have gone up so how can you sit behind your computers and spout that we are cat man do and the manager is useless is beyond me he inherited a mess and is trying to sort it ill say it before and I'll say it again I don't care if we play rubbish and win would you say that if we won the league silly question that I know the answer to that already.

That's your opinion mate,
This blog is all about opinions ,
In my opinion Bruce is a very negative manager who sets his teams to keep tight try to get a goal then sit deep to defend, .
Plus the worse football I have seen for many years,
But I say again that's my opinion only,
If your happy with how things are going then fine that's your opinion,
Not me!

18 May 2017 14:15:42
If Bruce does get villa up next year I will congratulate him,
I will give credit when it's due,

19 May 2017 10:13:12
Villadaz - i haven't been able to watch much of any games at the cathedral because i've been 2 busy moaning and crawling under me rock fella, lol! - look, we've all had doubts about different managers in the past but like you say, you keep supporting them, but now is different guvnor, this league is a ball-breaker, this is now going to be our second season, our budget is small this summer and the 3 relegated teams all have 50 million plus to spunk on whoever they fancy.

so the play-offs would seem to be the route we'll take, for that you need a strong minded gaffer to navigate, bruce is a lovely fella i'm sure, but that's not what we need, put it this way, if i put 3 managers on the pitch, bruce, stam, wagner and asked all us fans to choose one to lead us, honestly daz, who would you pick, all i'm saying is i don't think bruce would get the gold medal, we've got this and next season of parachute payments.

i just want a manager with a system, who the players like and want to play for, who are here not for the dough or use us as a stepping stone, but buy into the vision and want to be part of it, a crazy idea i know, but if the likes of redknapp, warnock, monck and stam can do it, how come we can't, and by the way i think cardiff were in a slightly worse state than we were, but that's beside the point, anyways must dash, some bright spark has challenged me to go find a cricket team to follow!

17 May 2017 23:24:15
Scary times!

18 May 2017 14:34:00
Makes you wonder why we play very well against Brighton away and that was for me the only highlight of the season,
Why have we not being anywhere near that performance since?
We seem to be hanging on for dear life to get a draw or a win,
What I have noticed is that most of the teams in championship are fitter,
There is more tempo to there game,
We will see if any improvement is seen in first 10 games,

18 May 2017 16:12:55
What a great memory and song, thanks bob.

18 May 2017 16:48:40
My mistake mate,

Can't remember the title but it was the Tony Butler theme tune when he got out his prayer mat!
Used to love that song.
