Haven't been on the site for a few days. To my suprise (sarcastically) after logging on, the calls for Sherwoods head have already started.

How on earth can it be said that we are in the same position as last season?

Don't get me wrong we have our faults at this point, some questionable tactics, striker needed and a RB, to name a few, but for heaven sake we are 5 games into the season?

We have 2 lightning fast, very good wingers, 2 amazing number 10's, descent holding midfielders and a much better, overhauld defense. Last season Dec we had only scored 12 goals! For me it is only a matter of time before we gel and come good. Our squad is young and way more talented than the youth PL invested in, with much better 'sell on' potential. Tactics must be looked at, but I don't think TS is stupid and will learn going forward.

So heaven sake get behind the manager, and your team and have some respect for yourselves until we can assess our position come January.

I agree. With the exception of striker, we are better or at least as good in every position as last season. If TS can bag one or two more in January then we will have a real quality side with decent strength and depth.

i must say i'm not happy with the way its going but i still trust sherwood. we need the striker situation sorted first of all and we might be going some where. still not sold on richards sanchez or ayew but i think they will get there in the end.

and as much as I've defended guzan over the last few seasons i think we need to start looking elsewhere. the errors just keep adding up and they are starting to cost us as a team

I'm with you on Ayew and Sanchez but Richards is a massive upgrade on Vlaar according to his stats. Gestede is more of a one dimensional weapon at certain times and may not have been the best buy.

That been said I'm impressed with Sherwood's transfers over all and it is just a matter of using our numerous different options tactically in the best way (And we do have many options for different scenarios) so it is going to take a while to get right tactically. It is also going to take some time for a complete team overhaul to gel.

Talent-wise I can see this team definitely breaking into the top 10 and from a commercial perspective it has given us a much better platform to bring the club back to fruition over the next few seasons and a much better looking prospect for a buyer.

Don't forget last season all our value was in 2 players, being Benteke and Delph (Very risky if one gets injured, to sell). We now have spread the money over more players with a lot of potential future value.

First off I'm not a villa fan but I am Irish and I'm sure you're all aware of the supposed international "tug-of-war" over Jack Grealish. I was just curious to see how highly you guys rate Grealish as I don't get to see him every week and wether or not he could develop into an England regular if that's the route he chooses and just how good could he be in general? Cheers guys

Personally I think grealish has bags of potential an I feel he is going to be top draw if nurtured in the right way. However I could see someone like city coming in an making his career stall. If he stayed wit villa an played regularly I think he can be anything he wants to be. Gascoigne Merson real top no.10
For me as good as Ross Barkley any day

Young and still learning but from the early signs I agree a future international superstar for whichever country he decides on. Personally I think he would get more opportunity's with Ireland

Just read an article that says Hutton has run faster than Agbonlahor this season! If he doesn't have pace, what can he do?

PES has Gabby down as the 4th fastest player in the world, I think they are watching a different player.
