Rumours circulating roma president is trying to do a deal with us to sign destro from them, now don't know how reliable all this is but he would be a excellent signing, in my opinion much better that Austin

You can't beat premier league proven players though - would be a risk to lay basically all our goals scoring hopes on a young unproven player. Now Austin and Destro I could be on board with :)

Has anyone heard Jonny Gould and Howard Hodgson podcast about the failed takeover bid. Mind you you all knew this info a few weeks ago when I told you on here, oh yeah if I remember I was mocked and the info I gave was said to be rubbish. Well I guess you can keep believing the stories of Bill Gates and Larry Ellison buying the Villa. For those who believed what I was saying I will update you when any news developes, as of now no takeover is near.

Vlaar??
Why??
Useless feck, wants out, can't defend, can't commit, thinks he's better than villa.
Pay some to have him.

I'm with Flackie on this one
Vlaar has, barring the odd game, been a huge disappointment since he came to the club. Slow, often clumsy, injury prone (not that that's his fault) and never the leader we wanted and needed
Glad to see the back of him

Did anyone really think CB would still be a Villa player next season??. With all the speculation surrounding him he has never once pledged his future to us!. The only way he would keep him would be by default with no other club willing to pay the buy out clause. I appreciate the fact he has scored some important goals for us but he would have been gone 12 months ago if not for injury and let's also not forget he tried to force a move after just one season with us!. This constant speculation surrounding a player who clearly hasn't had any real desire to be a Villa player for quite sometime is wearing thin. We are Villa and we are better than this, let's get players in want to wear the shirt and do it with pride VTID.

Congratulations on the Beteke fee that's an incredible amount for a player who still has so much to prove, I know you didn't want him to go but £32 million that's unbelievably good business by villa

Sanchez £32 million Benteke £32 million Liverpool have well and truly done it again paying way to much for a player with way to much yet to prove.
Benteka might prove a bargain but my money is this will be the highest fee of his career.

Congratulations on the fee ? Are you for real mate.
We are supporters not stock market traders happy with pulling of a big deal
Losing a great player = bad news
If we invest what is a decent chunk of money on 2 or 3 equally good players then great, that will be good news. But it's a massive if

*Cough* Ozil for 42 million, he's so rubbish I genuinely wouldn't want him at Villa - talk about overpaying.

Mendax is spot on though, its only a good deal for us if the money is reinvested in such away that the team is stronger for it - Look how Liverpool and Tottenham frittered away their big transfer money on unproven players and generally poor signings. I think Eriksen was the only top quality player they got between them. Its hard to argue that either side is better off without Bale/Suarez.

I was just thinking, and this theory might be a bit 'out there' but if I was a potential buyer with a club left in fair disarray when it comes to what our squad was worth and Randy being tight recently.

Would it not be in the best interests for the potential buyers to wait for more players to be brought in, because let's face it if Randy does not invest a little we could well go down and then he'll really have to drop his asking price, so he is really forced.

Then once the squad is worth more in future resale less initial money has to be spent by the new owner. Just a thought, use it. don't use it.

I think that’s a very good point villaSA, makes a lot of sense to me, and one reason things may be moving slowly.

The moment Benteke signs elsewhere the club is down 32.5 million in value because really most of it is Lerner's to do what he wants with- maybe we will see some progress once he is out the door.

Does anyone else remember when Lerner was buying the club originally, there was a period when he fell out with Ellis (not difficult) and the move was called off
A week or so later it was back on
Just thought I'd mention it.

If we can afford the transfer fee and his wages, then definitely. LvG has said that he is for sale and of course, he is a million times better than Guzan. This time last year, he was Barcelona's first team keeper!

New Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri
Has entered the race for the signature of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke. Ranieri is believed to have offered Villa manager Tim Sherwood a life time supply of Mars bars for the services of the towering Belgian. Sherwood replied "I am very excited of the prospect of have a lift time supply of my favourite chocolate bar and I'm very overwhelmed"

It might as well be true. Every other bugger has been linked with Big Ben!!!

Feel like we're being left behind in the transfers. Wijnaldum (Newcastle), Lens(Sunderland), Clasie (ok, Southampton had a better season than us). all quality players. feel like we're behind in the game.

Arsene Wenger in next as chairman. I mean we seem to be taking the whole of arsenal to the villa so this is just the next natural move for Mr lerner. lol!!
