Just heard a start on talk sport that shames us. Cardiff 3 wins 9 points Warnock spend £2.5 million equates to £280,000 a point.

Us 1 point Bruce spend £75million equates to £75million a point. Only a fool would give him another penny. If we need to spend more of the good doctors money it can't be with Bruce at the helm.

17 Aug 2017 00:18:33
Well that's a load of bull for a start. Bruce has been in charge for 40 games, so that's 52 points last year and 1 this year. That is around £1.44million per point.

This season, Villa have spent around £2.5million on incoming players and have made around £10million (tranfer value only) . Technically Villa have made £7.5million per point this season.

Also, we spent around £76million last season, but made around £41million from selling players and loaning out players. That means we spend a net of £35million last season and made £7.5million this season, a net total of £27.5million spent. Therefore, £27.5million/ 52 = £528,846 per point, which is around double what Cardiff have spent.

Considering our troubles over the last few years, this isn't unreasonable. What I'm getting at is, it seems a lot of people are looking for problems that aren't there.

17 Aug 2017 01:22:31
Man alive, being as good at number crunching as that, you not shifting carol vorderman are ya tiger!

17 Aug 2017 10:32:27
Welcome to the party oh math god 👍

But I agree with you . Ultimately we have a team capable of promotion in my opinion just need a few tweeks here and there.

17 Aug 2017 10:37:51
Nobody would need to see me in a dress, it'd be like an uglier version of the Austrian who won Eurovision the other year.

17 Aug 2017 12:59:32
Lol-quality response Discostu88!, i was guessing your other half was the good lady herself, and magically her powers of number crunching had been magically passed over to you, but there again even she might find it difficult to fathom bruceys' equation on winning a game at the moment.

16 Aug 2017 18:35:10
My team for Saturday

Johnston
Dr laet
Chester
Terry
Taylor,

O'hare
Lyden
Houlinan
Green

Onamo
Davis or Hogan if fit

Little different but what the hell try some think else to get a win.

16 Aug 2017 19:48:42
My team for Saturday

CoCo
Chuckles
Bingo
Chico
Giggles
Nello
Kristy
Harpo
Bongo
Bloopie
Jingles

Subs

Dopey
Grumpy
Bashful
Happy
Sneezy
Doc
Sleepy

Now that's a team "clowns and 7 dwarfs" that would do us proud show some passion and commitment and love pulling on the shirt because the current group are no where near this team.

16 Aug 2017 23:37:39
I think your teams great mate Steve Bruce would make Sleepy captin.

16 Aug 2017 17:09:47
Reading that Bruce will not play McCormack even though the only experienced forward we have is Gabby who has already scored his 1 goal this season.
Gabby, average goalscorer at best was forgiven for past indiscretions but Bruce won't or can' t forgive a proven goalscorer.
Steve you need all the help you can get at the moment don't burn all your bridges.

16 Aug 2017 18:03:38
In defence of brucey, he set lofty a number of fitness goals to just bring him up to the fitness level the other players are at (and that ain't saying much)!, but yet again, the leaning tower of stropiness couldn't even manage that, so he is LITERALLY not fit to wear the shirt! -and still trousers his wages AND his loyalty bonus! -UNBELIEVABLE.

16 Aug 2017 18:30:16
He doesn't deserve a chance!
He isn't interested, over weight and wants a move.

I agree Bruce is in need of a bullet, and we need to score goals. RHM, green before him.

I agree with Bruce on this. The player is poison.

16 Aug 2017 19:49:23
I agree with both of you about McCormack but as Bruce has not shown any intrest in playing RHM and Davis this season even when fit, as RHM was yesterday, then I see very little between Gabby and McCormack except that one has scored goals at this level in the past.
My preference would be for neither to play for this club again but who would buy them?

16 Aug 2017 16:32:25
If bruce walks what's everyones top 3 to replace him, mines giggs, sherwood, dwight yorke.

16 Aug 2017 16:40:28
Dean Smith
Sherwood
Laudrup
These are my 3 to pick from,

16 Aug 2017 17:02:31
So you would replace an experienced manager with inexperienced managers?

16 Aug 2017 17:40:30
Clarat53.
We have the most experienced manager in the championship and look at the mess. So why not go for someone with little experience in the championship? Can they do any worse?

16 Aug 2017 17:44:04
Jokanovic
Carvahal
Stam.

16 Aug 2017 18:30:56
Fergie
God
Jesus

In that order I think.

16 Aug 2017 18:40:31
My choices probably
a bit ambitious

Big sam, chris coleman, dean smith.

16 Aug 2017 22:00:24
Kim Jong
Donald Trump
And that Dragon queen from game of thrones!
I am sure any of them would make an impression on our big time Charlie's! They would be my top 3!

16 Aug 2017 16:30:29
Anyone think we should get bck martin oneil?

16 Aug 2017 16:38:18
Get a new manager and get rid of all the dead wood, starting with Gabby.

16 Aug 2017 16:41:49
No to Martin O'Neill.

16 Aug 2017 17:06:10
Would love martin oneil back in an ideal world, but its not going to happen. Think the reason we are struggling is the fact that we have key players out. don't think the answer is to change the manager.

16 Aug 2017 17:41:41
Would never touch MON again.
He killed our club, is the main reason we are still where we are.
The man is a disgrace.

16 Aug 2017 16:27:02
Wtw i'd pick sherwood 1 claude puel 2 and giggs 3rd would love melberg and laursen legends also dwight yorke aswell.

16 Aug 2017 16:21:07
Doesnt anyone think we made a mistake signing whealan instead of ledly who is a free an 2 years younger for me better player thought it was a no brainer but what do i know ha ha.

16 Aug 2017 16:42:31
I wanted ledley king over Whelan,

16 Aug 2017 16:46:20
Big fan of statistically choosing players rather basing transfers on seeing how good they look.

Based on this, Ledley and Whelan are both bellow par for the premier league, even for the Championship they are poor. For a holding midfielder, I'd have went for Aron Gunnarson (Cardiff), Sam Hutchinson (Wednesday) or Jackson Irvine (Burton) myself.

16 Aug 2017 17:43:27
Ledley king?! That made me laugh mainbob! 👏👏👏.

16 Aug 2017 18:26:46
Flackie
I only wanted king over whelan,
Does not mean I wanted him above anyone else!
Just think a better player for me than Whelan plus a younger player to boot!

16 Aug 2017 18:31:59
You was serious?

Ledley king who retired 4 years ago?

17 Aug 2017 07:59:44
Flackie

Just seen my stupid error with king
Joe ledley was the player i should have said!
Mind you ledley king would be better anyway even at his age.

16 Aug 2017 16:14:00
Love to see Chris Hughton manage us. Maybe if Brighton struggle come Christmas he can come in, save us from relegation, then get us promoted next season.

16 Aug 2017 16:44:04
Chris hughton would be a good shout done well everywhere he has been,
Think he is happy at brighton.

16 Aug 2017 16:50:48
Doctor quincy would be a good bet for manager,
Perhaps he can do a post mortem on the players to see if they are alive or not🤣.

16 Aug 2017 15:35:34
Well it looks like yet another manager has come to Aston Villa and failed again so who's next? Heres the runners and riders.

1 Karanka - got Boro up on a free.
2 Pardew - on a free done ok everywhere.
3. Moyes - his been linked with Villa more times than Flackie has put out fires.
4, Pearson - again linked with Villa before RDM.
5. Jokanovic - doing a good job at Fulham could he be persuaded?
6. Heckingbottom - Done well at Barnsley an let's face it we have half there team.
7. Lee Johnson - doing well at Bristol city.
8. Dean Smith - Villa fan doing ok at Brentford could get the best out of Hogan.
9. Graham Alexander - doing a great job at Scunthorpe.
10. Mark Warburton - done well everywhere his been.
11. Mick McCarthy - very much like bruce.
12. Phil Parkinson - got bolton promoted.
13. Ollie Gunnar Solskjaer - linked before.
14. Claude Puel - great manager unlucky to be sacked at Southampton on a free now.
15. Tim Sherwood - would love to come back.
16. Olaf Mellberg - just stepped in to management got promoted.
17. McInnes - doing well at Aberdeen.
18. Weinzierl - done ok in Germany on a free.
19. Schuster - again done great in Germany on a free now.
20. Tony Pulis - loved villa we are all he talks about.
21. Phil Neville - up and coming.
22. Mark Sampson - England's women's team.
23. Martin Larsson - Villa through through.
24. Sam Allardyce.
25. Paul Lambert.

So there you have it folks anybody you like there? Theres a few outsiders.

16 Aug 2017 16:11:04
Mellberg and Laursen would be the dream team but wouldn't want it so that we'd be hating on them in 2 years time if it went tits up, I'd go 1 Sherwood 2 Alladyce 3 Warburton from that list, throw in another name that ain't there, David Platt

UTV.

16 Aug 2017 16:17:47
Glen Hoddle has more knowledge about the game imo,

16 Aug 2017 16:45:23
Matt fisher, won promotion with his previous club.

16 Aug 2017 20:29:09
I'd go for Gary Neville or Andre Villas Boas over Sherwood.

16 Aug 2017 15:20:13
Seems the doctor has his short list to hand again, and its gone a bit quiet on the board members front, its like a repeat of last season again, i used to shake my head at the comings and goings at cardiff, we're now the news, hopefully they make the decision to keep him or not quickly, buy him his striker or put him out of our misery, back or sack, either way, he's doing his best, he deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect., that's the least we can do.

16 Aug 2017 15:01:05
Think we should go for one of the following when Bruce gets the tin-tac

Jokanovic from Fulham

Carvahal from Sheffield wed ( bring foresteri with him )

Jaap stam

Tim sherwood ( at least he would bring some much needed passion back to the club)

16 Aug 2017 14:15:16
I really liked Sherwood, he has passion and is generally a funny guy. I can see why the players got a bit of a bounce from him coming in. However, I don't think he is anymore tactically astute than SB, and seemed to be making the same mistakes. I remember being really worried about Villa in his last season (now justified) where we were having kinda similar results to what we have now.

Maybe he'd be better off in a coaching role, just to gee everyone up a bit?

As for the manager, I don't know if it will make any difference changing him. I get why people want SB out, but I just don't think it will help. It may be that we just click as a team at some point with it being so early on and go on a run. That's providing SB cheers up a bit, He already looks like he's been fired in his press conferences.

16 Aug 2017 15:43:58
Sherwood wasn't able to bring his own transfers in and had to rely on what Randy's pet provided and had to cope with the loss of Delph and benteke. Give him a proper chance with his own signings and giving out youth a chance. ✌🏻.

16 Aug 2017 16:18:47
Sherwood messed up against Leicester with his tactics, that's when it all went wrong, I'd hope he's learnt a lesson from that, No1 choice for me

UTV.

16 Aug 2017 16:29:42
Maybe if SB goes, an interim contact for Sherwood or Pearson until EoS could be a shout. If we get promoted give them an extension, if not get a new guy.

I wouldn't mind Aitor Karanka myself, he had trouble with the players in the PL, but had Boro playing some good stuff in the Championship!

16 Aug 2017 11:52:45
So all summer we spend waiting for the football season to start against and then when it does we get this. got to love it haven't you.

16 Aug 2017 17:15:25
Think with the key players that we have out is a major problem. The likes of jedinak, kodga, grealish ect they are big players. we may well suffer untill they are back.

16 Aug 2017 11:21:46
i know people are going to act like i'm a fool for asking this but why is everyone so desperate for sherwood back? as far as i remember he was the manager in charge when we got relegated and he hardly had a great win record. other than the fa cup run all i remember is the amount of abuse the bloke got for being "tactless tim"

now i understand that he had a shocking team at the time but i still don't see the thinking behind it.

16 Aug 2017 11:34:24
I totally agree. We need a progressive manager, someone with a bit of vision.

16 Aug 2017 12:02:30
Just a thought - Nigel Pearson?

16 Aug 2017 14:53:59
On the face of it tactically he was clueless, so long term we would end up in the same position. However he wasn't too proud to change things and give different things ago, he always went for it and set us up to be on the front foot and he is most likely to hit the ground running same as last time. If we were to sack Bruce and there wasn't a manager at the time who jumps out as the proper candidate then I'd get sherwood on a 3 month rolling contract whilst we source a full time man. His passion, energy and commitment would get results from the offset, it's when all those things become the norm to the players and he has to rely on tactics an such that's when he begins to fail.

16 Aug 2017 15:08:49
Gary monk would of done well had we gone for him.

16 Aug 2017 09:48:35
My mate just had a great idea. Brian Little as manager, Ian Taylor and Stan Petrov as coaches?

UTV.

16 Aug 2017 11:21:01
Ian Taylor as coach?
I would stick him in the team for Saturday
He is better than any of our rubbish now!

16 Aug 2017 14:54:27
Is John Gregory in a job?

16 Aug 2017 15:36:48
Nice idea mate but Brian is too old now he gets akes and pains all over.

16 Aug 2017 08:16:54
Bring back Sherwood. He was never given a fair crack of the whip when he was here, and he seems to be the only one that actually got the players to show a bit of passion. A lot of the players already know him, and know the way he likes to play, which could be an advantage than bringing in somebody completely new again. let's face it, we've had enough new faces in that have been a shambles! Give him another go I say, and I think he would definitely be up for it.

16 Aug 2017 08:32:35
Gutted over another groundhog day performance from the villa,
No style, no guts, no desire, nothing anywhere,
We are a truly terrible championship team in major decline,
We have spent millions on mostly garbage,
We have a manager who does not do tactics and does not have a clue how to stop the rot,
I like Bruce as a person very honest but now it's becoming clear to me he needs to go,
Seeing Hutton coming on with us 2 down shown me his tactics stink,
Where is o'hare who was looking like a good player but not even on bench?
I'm lost for words now!

16 Aug 2017 08:59:21
Hipeps. haven't posted for ages. just trying to look on abit of a positive side. (i know hard) but if we look at who we re played so far. hull (relegated from the prem) cardiff (looks like they are going to be up there this season) and reading playoffs last season) just we might be abit premature this season about bruce.

16 Aug 2017 09:11:55
wolves played 3 hard games, 9points, Hull away, playing great football, I can't stand wolves,

16 Aug 2017 10:05:58
Wolves have a manager who knows what formation to use and sticks to it,
His team has gelled up to now and do look champions at the moment,
They will hit a bad patch and we will see if they can overcome it
Most villa players do they really want to get to premiership?
I question the manager as I do the players,
Can not see where the goals are coming from and the defence looks more leaky now with Terry there,
We get done for pace at the back and we don't have loads of pace anywhere really,
Sherwood has been touted to come back and if i'm honest i have no problem with that,
At least the young players would get a real run
Bruce has brought in all these over aged experienced players in and I cannot see any more discipline in the side and leadership
Dark days ahead if we don't do some Think to stop this slide.
A very worried villa fan!

16 Aug 2017 11:18:44
Hogan Could be out for a decent time so all We have now is gabby as our main striker?
Bruce says rmk is not in his plans at all so it's all up to the kids to fight for a place with gabby!
What a state we are in no goals, can't defend, and gabby as our saviour 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Players I don't want to see in starting line up on Saturday are;
Hutton
Gabby
Thor
Lansbury
Whelan
Players I want to see in team!
O'hare
Davis,
Lydon
We will more than likey lose again but at least these would show some bottle and desire, .
Tisbola should have been given more playing time but was loaned out,
Disgrace that Bruce left out o'hare when he praised him so highly but this is what pisses me of with Bruce,
God forbid we see Hutton in first 11 Saturday,

16 Aug 2017 17:46:24
AGREE.

16 Aug 2017 07:53:46
Just for the record if Bruce was to go I think we should offer the job To Michael Laudrup I said this long before we got Paul Lamberk.

16 Aug 2017 09:26:24
Just another unproven manager in tje championship though.

16 Aug 2017 09:44:27
Agree viĺla mallorca but so is half the Championship bud proven in PL though and played some great passing and attacking football with Swansea.

16 Aug 2017 10:58:08
Yeah completely agree daz. not SURE what we need to stop this rut?

16 Aug 2017 07:40:51
Something is so rotten at our club it's eating the very heart out of it what it is is anybodys guess. Can 5 managers be really that bad? Can Bruce turn into a bad manager overnight me personally I don't think so but something is fundamentally wrong. When Bruce bought these players we was all jumping for joy saying we was going to have a good season all be it 1 person disagreed is he right? My answer is a big fat NO he is wrong I don't know if anybody has watched on You tube Bad Santa Aston Villa watch it I beg you too then come back and tell me what you think I'll give you a bit of a inkling it involves Gabby Hutton and Richards watch it till the end and listen to what gabby says. Is he the root cause? On watching this video I say yes a big FAT yes is Richards to blame? I say a big fat YES is Hutton to blame? I say a big fat YES and the others in this video. Does player power come into affect I think so if players are not getting picked the dummy comes out of the pram it's the same in all walks of life if you try your hardest at work and someone else gets that promotion you wouldn't try your hardest anymore you would say sod that why should I just my view that is. I have been to many matches and played football my philosophy on the game is you need a spine in a team I personally believe we have it but for some reason it's not working please watch this video and see how gabby reacts to his present he receives I still believe we need stability in this club we haven't had it in 5 years I still believe Bruce is the right man it is so hard to get rid of these troublemakers when they are content on taking their hard earned money each week when no one wants them does that tell you a thousand stories? Sorry for this long post I'm rambling on a bit but for the good of our club and think about it logically would Terry and Whelen dropped down a division to come to us if they didn't think they could help us both incidentally had PL offers too. We all think we have the God given right to walk this league I thought we would too, on paper our team is IMO the best in the league but we need to stop thinking we are a massive club we are everybody's cup final in this league and by God it's brutal if the players are putting cracks in the club the fans are too (Rightly so we pay our money) We all need to be singing from the same hymn sheet because if not we have and will again fall by the wayside and end up like Forest and Leeds in the hell hole that is the Championship. I love my club I love the fans I love everything that is Aston Villa I love talking Aston Villa so for the sake of my club your club let's let these players know what we think don't boo them sing our hearts out and let them know that we will be here long after they have gone THE OVER PAID PRE MADDONAS.

16 Aug 2017 06:10:54
Am i right in thinking sherwood wasn't impressed with the moneyball saga, and he and steve round didn't see eye to eye over transfers and who decided what-hope i'm wrong, because if bruce is cut loose, sherwood would definitely be a good shout, although personally i'd go for stamm, done wonders at reading, on tuppence ha'penny budget-lets go dutch!

16 Aug 2017 06:50:55
sherwood was not here with round. it was lerners pet who was buying the players when sherwood was here. round does not buy the players now the manager has the final say round is supposed to help find em. sherwood was never given money or a fair crack so I think he would jump at the chance to put it right at villa and bring our young boys through.

16 Aug 2017 08:49:52
Cheers kingy for straightening that one out, now if you could just get the gaffer situation under control we can all settle back into tranquil mode!

16 Aug 2017 01:00:51
when seeing the team sheet tonight, I couldent believe that O Hare was not even on the bench . The kids last couple of outings, have shown that he has ability, energy and wants the ball and always looks for a forward pass . Who did we have Gabby, from the reports iv seen of the Cardiff game, Gabby spent most of his time standing still . When you are in our position, you need players who graft . O Hare is one of the best prospects we have had for a long time, use his ability and enthusiasem. Used in the right way, O Hare could be the one to get Hogan fireing .
The first half tonight, at least sounded as it we had some kind of system. The worrying thing was our fitness, the commentators said we looked heavy legged again . I know it's only 3games, but surely our fitness should be better than appears . Ok so he missed out on a one on one, but Green still sounded, as if he had a good game . WTW will most likely have a go because I was listening on the radio and not there, but over the years iv done my bit HaHa . Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

16 Aug 2017 06:05:34
Couple of things Davedean82,brucey had O'Hare play for the u23's on monday night-shrewd move, and secondly of course gabby stands still alot, don't you remember from last season, the poor little lamb suffers from vertigo!
I just hope bruce (if he's still there), gives the youth more of a chance, otherwise their agents might get a bit too proactive, we might as well give them a fair crack, as the expression goes, if their good enough, their old enough, let's hope bruce mixes it up from now on., got to say though, i'm impressed with what stamm has done at reading, plays it on the deck, and puts a team together that can adapt, without having spent a kings ransom, wouldn't mind giving him the job, big time player, big time mentality, stamm worth a shout?
