Any of you seen dr. tony saying on twitter about giving him suggestions about how to solve our problems? but does that not smack of a disregard for rdm and the staff behind him, i'm actually standing up for rdm here and saying this social media thing is going to undermine us both on and off the field, its like having a jury by popular demand, trouble is dr. tony is clueless about how football works and this proves it,

he needs to wind his neck in and let rdm try and smooth out the creases, this is a public shot across the bows, how much more wrong can dr. tony be by using social media, this is bad news for all of us.

I agree 100%, this is a first.

16 Sep 2016 10:00:01
His tweeting was good in the transfer window but is getting stupid and childish now.

16 Sep 2016 17:22:12
I tend to agree with you on this one mate. (I hope the shock has not affected you)

16 Sep 2016 19:26:59
i think i'm hallucinating!

15 Sep 2016 23:40:03
Simple question why don't aston villa win? in a year and a half i have seen villa win 4 times not including friendlys and iam pretty much sick of it we have a new owner new players new manager and we still lose are we cursed?

15 Sep 2016 23:50:16
Because we score less goals than the opposition.

16 Sep 2016 01:29:06
Are we as big a club as we think we are or are we biased? Big clubs win games and to be honest the club is been a joke an quite pathetic 4 about 6 years now i know that sounds harsh an it kills me to say it but at the moment we are nearer the bottom than the top again. As i pointed out i go every game and in the last year and half i seen us win 4 times. 4 me and every other villa fan this is not acceptable. we all want the best for this club wev we agree with each other on here or not how do we fix this once great club? Yes its early yet but i do belive we are more likely to be down there rather than up there as we don't ever win do we really let's be honest villa don't win we are pretty rubbish at football lol. If went to work and you kept making the same mistakes they would say you are crap at your job so what's the difference? 4 wins in a year and a half suddenly won't change to us wining 28 games and going up! I don't no the answer but 1 thing is and iam sure this is the 1 thing you will all agree on iam sick of being rubbish!

16 Sep 2016 09:27:51
I think we are all in agreement that the past 4-5 years under Lerner were horrible, but I don't think you should make the mistake of already grouping the results and running of the club of the current owner to the previous.

In this short time Tony has spent big and spent well and there is no way we can judge his ownership and running of the club on 7 games, that is not fair at all.

In the real world if you had a company that was performing horribly for 5 years, I can assure you that it would very rarely turn around completely in 6 months. It can take years and you have to understand that even though that is not what you want to hear.

16 Sep 2016 12:10:34
Big club is to do with history, and your place in it, the result side of this is temporary. it's to do with legacy.

15 Sep 2016 21:25:33
Any ideas when the loan window opens? Be interesting to see if we get anybody in?

{Ed001's Note - there isn't a loan window this season.}

15 Sep 2016 21:32:33
Ok sound my bad.

15 Sep 2016 17:30:07
Chester, Elphick, Baker back 3
De Laet and Amavi either side.
We are so lightweight when trying to defend that every team knows that pressure will succeed.
Forwards to die for, midfield to question, defence to pray for!
No midfield coming back to help.
Look at 90% of other clubs and they defend with 8 players.

15 Sep 2016 20:18:04
I tend to agree mate
I think I have mentioned on here before that I think the make up of our squad actually favours a 3-5-2 formation
RDM is trying to accomodate too many players.
We need to play Ayew as a forward or not at all.
We need to perm 2 from 4 in terms of strikers, not try and play the lot.

15 Sep 2016 21:39:07
Chester baker Elphick
De laet jedinak tshibola adomah
Grealish
Rudy. Kodjia

Just my opinion I know leavin Ross and ayew out but for me McCormack hasn't done anything yet maybe because out of position . And ayew dosnt work hard enough in my book . But like I said just my opinion.

15 Sep 2016 21:49:12
I like the look of that formation .
There are obvious omissions like Ayew Mac and Amavi that some people may disagree with. Fair enough.
But IMO the important thing is that Westwood and Gardener are NOT included.

15 Sep 2016 22:20:27
Chesters best moments has come in a back 3 aswell for Wales and Hull! Di Matteo seems stuck in his ways in terms of formation, it's been the same every game no matter what players are available, forcing players like McCormack and Kodja (vs Brentford) out of position. If his going to stick with a 4-2-3-1 we need actual wide men who will exploit full backs and get back and can do it for ninety minutes. Grealish and Adomah are more than capable to do that, when fully fit
Gollini
De laet Chester elphic amavi
Jedinak tshibola
Adomah McCormack grealish
Kodja

Would be our best line up, mccormacks goal scoring record comes from playing just in and around another striker. And ayew Gustede on the bench to change a game if needed!

16 Sep 2016 09:31:18
I would love to see a 3-5-2 formation, I also think adding Baker to the back will help us close out games, one of his strengths is a sense of urgency and throwing his body on the line in the dying minutes.

15 Sep 2016 16:50:33
I don't think I can watch the last 10 min of a villa match anymore. My heart can't take it, I have no finger nails, my teeth have no more enamel and my dogs don't come near me anymore.

15 Sep 2016 18:31:10
Every December Villa market half season tickets. I am going to trade my current season ticket in for one as long as it means I only have to watch first halves from then on?!

15 Sep 2016 13:51:50
is the missing link the players are bored with the training methods, is it that their mental tiredness manifests because of confusion as to what system we use, and what system to play?

when players are missing-that is, more compact and become a counter attack team;whatever it is, no- one is addressing it, for all that's common sense rdm, please just get someone in to at least analyse us, because bad habits are easier to form than good ones, and contrary to what some on here say that i think of him, he deserves a fair shake.

15 Sep 2016 16:48:17
I'm not sure if it is the training, however I would like to be a fly on the wall. I'm sure we all would, I think the most shocking part of last night was RDM's tactics, it was like every person in the crowd knew what should be done but RDM didn't have a clue. I think the for the first time this season I was worried and I don't have an excuse for him I'm afraid.

15 Sep 2016 13:44:00
Kingvilla, in my post i mention richards as toast, and then say vital member of our team, the vital bit was a quote from a press conference when either the doctor or rdm was asked why richards wasn't sold and that reply of being vital to our squad was used.

so far some on here have me sacking rdm and rating richards!, there's only one place you can play him, and that's in front of the back for as a sweeper because he has no idea of zonal marking.

15 Sep 2016 12:41:24
We have no god given right to think we will walk back to perm. however, we are not a million miles away from playing our way back there.
I know results, and a backbone are missing, and that is down to more than tactics, and their ability. It's an in house problem that has been coming out at villa for over 4 years.

My problem is the idea of trying to defend a one goal lead for over 50 minutes
Defending a corner with not one player in the opposite half, Leicester, (and we know my feeling for this club) sacrifice procession for pace and hitting on the break, all we try to do, and Leicester leave 3 in attack when defending. meaning they need to leave 4 to defend.
It's not rocket science. If you only score once, and always concede, you won't win.

15 Sep 2016 16:28:12
Spot on, couldn't have said it better.

15 Sep 2016 10:41:13
everyone moaning and complaining about players being out of position but when you look at the players last night on the bench i really can't see what other choice he had,

so many injured and other than bacuna on RW/ RM instead of ayew (who had an outstanding game vs forest) where did he go wrong?

15 Sep 2016 09:07:06
Most threads on this supposed 'Banter' site now seem to be based entirely around the misguided premise that we somehow have a divine right to bounce straight back to the Premier League by virtue of our glorious past, or else every man and his dog associated with the club, on and off the pitch, should be sacked immediately or, better still, strung up. You can name as many replacement managers as you like but, without exception, every one of them (Bruce etc) has historically been sacked by other clubs for not performing so, essentially, what you are advocating is taking on failed management. For all the doom-and-gloom muppets out there, it's worth noting that a win last night would have resulted in us being exactly one place higher in the league than we are this morning and we are already almost halfway to equaling the glorious 17 points we achieved in the whole of last season. Like any really sick patient, this club is going to take time to heal no matter how many doctors you throw at it. I'm amazed that anyone expected anything other than a fairly tentative start to the season.

15 Sep 2016 10:38:51
so why can newcastle an norwich go staight back up but not villa we all got relegated an newcastle brought a new team an manager in to. we spent the most in the league we have good players just the wrong manager that's all sack him now and look at getting a villa man in to fire us back up. john gregory would do 4 me.

15 Sep 2016 12:21:56
Rafa was there half of last season mate. do you even watch football.

15 Sep 2016 13:35:31
As we needed to change everything. all we had was not good enough, and Newcastle and Norwich had the basis of a good team, and experience in the championship, also a manager that is settled, with their own identity on and off the field.
Jesus know it all, you know very little.

15 Sep 2016 20:27:05
I was going to say something but Flackie and the much maligned Kingvilla have saved me the job.

15 Sep 2016 08:13:27
As a first time poster, rdm needs to be replaced Asap, with Steve Bruce to take over . The good Dr has spent over 50 million pounds, he deserves better than the clueless manager we have at the moment, we have 3,centre forwards,2 no 10s and one winger, he needs to choose one centre forward from kod, gestade, ayew, ayew can't play on the wing doesn't track back, and one no 10 from Mac and jack . hopefully aa on the wing if ever fit . the other wing position is up for grabs, we need crosses in the box, at the moment we play 6 defenders and 4 attackers with no width . at the moment what resale value for elphick delaet, jednick and Mac, if we do not get promotion it will be the same as before overpaid, old players on long contracts. we should have gone for young hungry players like tish if we can get fit, because if we do get promoted, the older players will have to be replaced to be competive in the premier league, final thought blues spent 2.5 million,20 times less than us, and where are they in the league . the Dr could well be doing a Alan sugar at any moment .

15 Sep 2016 10:40:21
IMO most of the new signings seem good. It takes time to gel and we've had a few niggly injuries.
However, for me the area that needs to be sorted is midfield. 2 top signings in this area were needed in the summer and are still needed now. Westwood and Gardener are not good enough. Jedinak is approaching 33 and Tshibola is very promising but young. He only played 6 times last season.
So come January that IMO is where we need to spend big. Quality costs .
But will promotion be out of our reach by then? Its certainly looking that way.

15 Sep 2016 07:21:29
Not jumping on RDM back but he doesn't like doing the dirty stuff
McCormack was a massive loss at half time
But what was he doing bringing Amarvi in as a left midfielder
Holding out for 1-0
Amarvi gets the sympathy vote because of injury
I have posted before he was awful before his injury and awful after

De lait injury was massive as well bacunna is a good replacement or put baker on if you want to see it out

Amarvi substitution cost us the game.

15 Sep 2016 10:30:09
amavi was one of If not the best we bought last year. him gana and ayew.

15 Sep 2016 10:31:15
who would you have brought on for an injured mccormack then? i think with the players on the bench he did the right swap.

if i was holding on to the draw i think he should have brough baker on for gestade.

15 Sep 2016 13:47:49
Amavi was awful last night. He is hype due to his injury last season. Do you think a fit Amavi would have kept us up?

He made 12 appearances last season and Kieran Richardson was called up to replace him before the injury. If Amavi and Ayew are all that, why are they still here?

Gana went and watching him against Sunderland for Everton I didn't believe it was the same player.

As for replacing McCormack, put Rudy up on his own kodjia and greenj just behind
Awey left. Or gardener or bacuna in the middle with Westwood and Jedinak Close the game down. Not a left wing back in left midfield

We had 9 players second half, Ayew Orr to look at McCormack and kodjia for a lesson in tracking back and work rate Amavi way out of position.

15 Sep 2016 05:52:55
Conceded goals this season so far. 8 points lost. I have been backing RDM feircly bur he took absolutely no action to close the game out last night. He just sat and waited, there is no excuse for that.

85th (vs Sheff Wed)
86th (vs Huddersfield)
87th (vs Forest)
88th (vs Brentford)

15 Sep 2016 09:39:41
RDM got his tactics so wrong last night he was happy to sit back after the goal, the whole stadium was screaming for the team to get out and press when from the 60th minute was was that deep we was sat on the edge of our box and he was just stood there like it was all part of his plan.
