Now no bun fights or recriminations, or screaming abuse, but it would appear our last captain, the gabster, may be given another chance to prove himself, seems redemption or 'a second chance' will be flavour of the month, so what do you say chaps, let's rally behind gabby and help to re-ignite his passion. ooh, put that bun down!

15 Jun 2016 21:57:43
Hope you mean he has been offered a new contract, doing the catering outside the north stand.

16 Jun 2016 01:21:01
If i didn't know any better, i'd begin to wonder if you no longer saw him as our 'local boy made good', a shining light who only very recently was put forward as a future contender for mayor of birmingham, obviously as opposed to being the 'mare of villa park'

16 Jun 2016 02:07:54
If he gets offered another contract it should be at best a fifth of his salary.

16 Jun 2016 09:33:59
You may not like this Finch but word is the gabby is highly likely to be gracing us with his presence for some time to come, and i do believe you'll love this, he's due a loyalty bonus as well! if only i relised you could earn money by scoffing kentucky bargain buckets i would have put those kebabs down and played football more, there's a twisted sense of humour involved in that contract for sure, but remember, he doesn't do it for the money, its because we're his passion! sniff sniff, is that cow, is that sheep, oh no, my mistake, its b. s., cheers gabby, glad your on board fella, feeling our pain too i'm sure.

17 Jun 2016 01:23:13
Nah surely not mate, his contracts up right?
To be honest he's shamed the club even if he shifted the weight, grew a braincell and donated his wage to a good cause people wouldn't forgive him.

17 Jun 2016 04:54:21
His contract isn't up. He has 2 years left on his current deal. I fear we're stuck with because no one else will want pay him £55k+ a week. especially following his woeful public displays of unprofessional behaviour this year. Can see him 'doing an Nzogbia' and just sitting his contract out taking the cash every week.

15 Jun 2016 20:04:40
Hope we sign elphick soon, seems leeds are on the case too.

16 jun 2016 00:55:24
mate we are the biggest club in the championship no1 can compete with us we are loaded and have far better training faciltys than anybody in that league. he could go leeds but that club is in trouble through a terrible owner.

16 Jun 2016 01:23:19
You're 100% right, personally i reckon its his agent trying to inflate the price and wages, not that agents do that type of thing!

15 Jun 2016 21:07:28
I think you are talking about Guaranga's country when you refer to cloth caps 82 that being Yorkshire of course where many of our games will be played but before you right off our great county remember the midlands gave us crossroads the scouters gave us brookside the cockneys gave us Enders the Mancs Corrie

15 Jun 2016 21:25:52
? Wow!

15 Jun 2016 21:25:58
Cheers A11wdy for that, i was showing my age there thinking no-one would remember, nice comeback with crossroads (that brought back horrible memories, drama at its most different shall we say! ) and just to wash more of our dirty linen we also gave the world a drama about albion market i seem to remember (the shame the shame), as for Yorkshire my cousin says when people take the mick out of "Gods' Country" 'we say what we like, and we like what we say! '. he's right, modest as you can imagine!

15 jun 2016 17:12:15
matty phillips anyone?

15 Jun 2016 17:53:58
And caulker please.

15 Jun 2016 19:14:06
Will do for me. Hopefully RdM has had sufficient time to get his wish list in place as the takeover has staggered on and on and on. Unlike the previous regime could be that the new lot are going to back him with some cold hard cash and not just empty promises. No Prem this season but looking forward to some good honest hard work effort and pride in the shirt. VTID.

15 Jun 2016 13:48:31
Today is the day when it really came home to me.
I'm gutted!
Looking at that fixture list, without us was very painful.

15 jun 2016 14:16:35
history means nothink flackie we have to earn the right to be in the big time we havnt been doing that but its nice to have fixtures come out where ient scared of anybody instead of worrying about man city away lol. we will be back mate i think throughthe playoffs tho as we don't do anythink easy.

15 Jun 2016 17:55:09
Bought me cloth cap and am going to borrow a whippet for those games in eky-thump country, takes you back to when you was a boy and going to grimsby-hold on a minute-ahhh, it was pants now i come to think of it, reminiscing, its not all its cracked up to be! by the way, would love it if we bought knockheart from brighton, tricky little rascal with an edge, just what we need me thinks.

16 Jun 2016 02:12:48
Knockheart is erratic but has moments of class that can turn a game. Once again good pedigree, experience and has something to offer if we go straight back up next season.

16 Jun 2016 03:30:43
So let's go nutty and buy him, a creative player to excite the masses!

17 Jun 2016 01:26:51
Was fantastic at Leicester in the championship, arguably their best player that season. Back end of last season he was carrying Brighton too. Main problem with Anthony is his attitude.

17 Jun 2016 20:27:32
Your right but that attitude is what helps give him that edge, splash the cash quick rapid fashion.

15 Jun 2016 12:28:29
Lads I hope we make some very good signings I'm sure we will but does anyone think that Benteke will come back to us in the championship NOT A PRAYER sorry but the truth UTV.

15 jun 2016 17:14:06
don't want him back he's the same as the snake, benteke signed a contract extension then dropped us

15 Jun 2016 17:29:22
I do agree mate we stuck by him and he dropped us in a flash I think a fresh start is what we all need forget the past this is a brand new VILLA and hopefully the futures bright!

15 Jun 2016 17:33:02
Like the snake?
How?

Did he publicly say he was staying?
Did he publicly say he was loyal?

He did what most other players do, and pool met his buy out.
If it was not for this man we would of been a championship team in BOTH of last seasons.
We owe him massively, and if you are honest, and take the claret and blue glasses of, do you seriously blame him?

Delph is a disgrace, I would of had no problem with him joining Citeh, in fact wouldn't of blamed him, but what he did was outrageous, and I bet when he retires he looks back and is ashamed of him self.

I bet when Big Ben looks back at his time at villa park he is proud.

15 Jun 2016 17:43:28
If you had the chance to improve yourself I am 100% certain that you would take that chance.
The fact that his game has not suited a new manager does not mean that he is rubbish.
Many posters have said the same about Barry but it is interesting that recently many have said that he is the type of player that we need.
I don't like the fact that players leave when times get tough even though they have signed a contract. Delph is the only one I am aware of who turned his move down, pledged his loyalty and then walked out.
Money talks.
Very loudly.

15 Jun 2016 18:14:17
You wouldn't want Benteke back?
It's never going to happen so impossible to prove. But unless you've totally lost your mind, you'd be back flipping down Broad Street if he came back like the rest of us would.

15 Jun 2016 18:43:15
Exactly!

15 Jun 2016 18:00:25
Chaps, its done, its dusted, we had to go thru that to get the new owner and some optimism back, look at it this way, we're pressing the reset button, job done, now we're moving forward, shove the past, its behind us, hopefully we'll learn from it ;lets move on chaps!

15 Jun 2016 20:21:29
I'm hoping he treads water for a season at L'pool, we go up next season, get him back, that season would be in a run up to a World Cup, he'd be going for it! My father-out-in-law is a Hammer, he reckons they're sniffing round him though.

UTV.

15 Jun 2016 20:50:13
Talk about no gratitude, wearing the colours and realising you've made the wrong choice, yes that's right Allyp1972, your need to sit your outlaw father-in-law down and explain to him the facts of life.

subconsciously he's a villa fan, hence why he loves claret and blue, but feeling inadequate about himself in his mind he searched for another team in claret and blue and 'hay presto' west ham, simples. just tell him he is better than he thinks he is, and he deserves a bit of class in his life, support the villa! and by the way how can you support a team whose song includes those chirpy lyrics "and like my dreams they fade and die", come on-really? save his soul fella!

15 Jun 2016 22:22:22
He's beyond redemption mate, all I get is 'do you realise it was West 'Aaaaam who won The World Kaappp? ' Lol

UTV.

16 Jun 2016 01:35:01
He's half right there, and like england since then they've done virtually sweet f. a (yes we can't forget they won the f. a. cup too), one of the most annoying things is this season to get to their stadium you've got to walk thru westfield shopping centre, now this is a major problem, the clash of two different cultures-one culture that stares for hours at inanimate objects that cost a fortune and don't do anything really useful and are just bought for showing off, and then you got people who go shopping!

16 Jun 2016 09:51:18
Lol and 100% true, 👍🏻

UTV.

15 Jun 2016 11:28:12
Judging from the wba fixtures aston villas 1st game will be away. we need to make a real big signing show everybody we mean business talks cheap go and get propa player benteke gayle robson kanu nathan dyer ings we need to think big.

15 Jun 2016 12:00:50
When West Brom plays doesn't mean anything we would have played twice before then. Aa we will have mid week games to.

15 Jun 2016 12:06:47
I wouldn't read into their games as us and Birmingham will have to alternate and more than often one of us will be at home when Albion play at home.

15 Jun 2016 12:38:47
We usually play on the same day as Wolves.
WBA play the same day as BCFC as they traditional get smaller crowds.
