Have you heard the rumours, of Little and Mervin King joining the board . If true this could be what we need, people with some kind of idea of football. Mervin King with his business knowledge plus his love of Villa, perhaps would have been ideal as chairman . Brian Little as we all know, love the Claret and Blue, also he knows how the club works ( or used to work ) . Pluss he has a knowledge of football, If the ex Arsenal muppets only knew a third of what he knows we wouldent be in this shite . we need people like this, can't see Fox and co liking it .

Love it to be true! Just can't see it, sadly

14 Jan 2016 23:37:17
Flackie be good if it was though, as I said people who actually know about football plus care about the Villa.

15 Jan 2016 14:36:21
Can see Mervyn King joining, know he's friendly with Lerner and although I hope someone like Little or Taylor etc will join also I would be surprised if they did. Think anyone that has ever stood up or pointed out the clubs problems have been pushed out or moved on.

{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Monaco Show Some Love While PSG Admit To Cavani Troubles And More News

New chairman in place with little or no knowledge of football. Read his statement, states "money no longer provides success. as Lerner showed last year.
It wasn't last year that initiated the problem, it was the previous 5/ 6 years were Scrooge invested sweet f. k all.
Where's does that leave us? God only knows!

14 Jan 2016 14:37:43
Lerner knows the future and he is just getting out of the firing line! The new guy is just a front man on a good bonus to take the crap and to get as much cash back to Lerner as he can before the curtain falls.
I hope I'm wrong guys but I can't see anything positive in this appointment.
Lerner did not acknowledge the fans in his statement yet alone give any encouragement.
Look at Mr Hollis and his history, Auditing. Tax and advisory positions! I see no Soccer or sport, not even
entertainment so what does he bring to the party?
Then the great comment "money no longer brings success". Does he know our squad when he says that?
I pray I'm wrong guys but I am even more fearful of the future now.

{Ed007's Note - Chairman don't normally have a background in football or even sport, most of them come from a business or financial background.}

14 Jan 2016 15:03:34
I agree Ed but Hollis has in Lerner a like minded man, who has Remi got above him who loves the Game? Who will care about us, the fans?

{Ed007's Note - Sadly it's the way the modern game is, perhaps they're going to trust Garde's judgement on footballing matters. I genuinely don't think that there's many people in footballing boardrooms that do care about fans, as long as you're buying tickets and merchandise etc and they're getting their TV money they (not AV specifically) won't change things.}

I know very little about this guy, but!!
I totally disagree with this point, this guy is from the area, knows how much this club means to the area, and it's history, and it's importance.
He may not be a football guy, but I bet he is a football fan.

Also, who goes into a club from their local area with the remit of asset stripping, to run the club to the ground??
He will have family, friends, people he has known his whole life now relying on him to do the best for there club.

Now, if he taken this job in an area he didn't know, wasn't from, and had no ties, like a Newcastle, Everton perhaps, then I see the point.

And also, let's be honest!! Not one of us here is a football man, (meaning earned our crust in the game!) but we could all do a better job than our Yank owner!!)

{Ed001's Note - KPMG do handle all the football club's auditing, so he might have had some involvement in the game.}

I'm fairly sure he's a Man City fan which is why I laughed at his "money can't buy success any more" line. So he does have a footballing interest. I agree with Flackie above though, I imagine he's got a lot of people he knows and are friendly with who are Villa fans and will expect some sort of improvement for their club.

I'm not sure who people were hoping we would appoint as chairman but I can see a fair few positives from this appointment regardless of his footballing background which I'm not sure any other Premier League Chairman has?

He's locally based and therefore will attend games regularly, that's a big bonus over Lerner, straight away. He will actually speak to us, again something Lerner will not do.
And I think behind the scenes he will be very active in helping Villa balance the books and attract local investment, but I don't think he will have anything to do with the footballing side. I am hoping one of two things will happen either he will appoint someone who does have the required background to assist him or he will more or less let Remi Garde have a Martin O'neill like control of the club.
Either of those would be better than the muppets we have running the show right now, I also have a little suspicion that if this guy has anything about him Tom Fox, Paddy and Hendrik might not have jobs for too much longer. with a bit of luck.

I think many are suggesting he is another yes man or a fall guy for when we go down, but the truth is naming a new chairman was never going to make any real difference whilst the owner remains the same.

What he said!

I agree. we need an accomplished bean-counter that can work out how much we can spend on on-loan wages if we quickly offload the dead-wood. Problem is we are quickly moving through the transfer window with no firm signings and none of the required brutal offloading done yet. Meanwhile, the clubs we need to leapfrog to stay up such as Newcastle and Sunderland have signed players over the past few days. Sunderland have signed a big striker (Dame N'Doye) today and these are the teams that we need to lose in order for us to creep back into safety. So, signing a new Chairman is great, but I would rather we were signing some players and cashing in on the expensive non-performers.

Personally I would rather have seen Sir Peter Rigby appointed as Chairman.

Any notice even Siri mocks us. ask siri which football team it supports.

B******s. Pieces of my iPhone are now lying on my Kitchen floor .

16 Jan 2016 10:08:35
Just read my email from our new chairman. Willing to give anyone a chance, has the business credentials, local connection and said all the right things as you would expect on such an email. Give him a chance plus add Mr Little to the board any change would surely be better than the recent shambles, come on now and get 3 points today to start making things really interesting! VTID.

Black cats win last night suggests that even with a poor defence if you have a striker on form you can still win. Defoe 5 in2games has lifted them.
Time is now to spend £10m on Austin and get the goals that could motivate everybody.

14 Jan 2016 10:44:23
There is a loan to end of season then if we stay up would sign a full contract. Grelish may go other way on loan till end of season. This deal is close I'm told.

14 Jan 2016 11:33:30
This was toted last week as Grealish is realising that he must work not rely on his talent and Austin wants to be in the prem.
Looks like a deal made for us.

Also just read that Garde can sign loan deals but no mention of buys. Is this what has come from discussions with Lerner?
What planet is Lerner on?
Defo not a human being that owns a football club!

14 Jan 2016 11:50:06
Players would only want to come on loan as its looks like we are down. And we won't have to pay prem wages in the championship.

14 Jan 2016 14:23:01
only problem with that deal is isn't his contract up in june. if he stays with us on loan and we go down he's leaving QPR on a free and i can't see them agreeing to that.

14 Jan 2016 14:44:49
They gain grealish till end of season so that's the fee as such. I think this will happen unless this new chairman let's us spend a little.
