All this crap about sacking rdm baffles me, we have only played 6 games yeah results haven't went our way but leagues aren't won in September or October this is a long road and it's going to have lots of twists and turns we completely out played forrest on Sunday all over the park yeah they took there chances, but we have stickers that must be the envy of every manager in the league 1 or 2 wins on the bounce and this squad will fly up this league, grealish is playing some of his best football ayew looks to be interested again I do think we were a bit soft in the middle of the park be do have options there now, our squad is good rdm has done a good job our chairman has done a great job this is a new villa that wants to play football not just take there wages home We have to believe and keep the good vibe around villa park because that's players feed off
Just my Taughts.

And fine thoughts they are too mate.

13 Sep 2016 23:28:18
Good on you Villamick, I couldn't have said it better myself.

14 Sep 2016 00:01:19
Back from holiday, and see so much has changed!
Jesus these people make you feel angry, and sorry to be associated with them, lack sight, faith and patience.
Well said mick.

Hope you had a good break mendax!

14 Sep 2016 00:10:32
i fully agree with you mate and i think we have the best squad in the league bar newcastle but its a results business an the facts are we are already a long way behind everybody rdm has to get wins an qwick we have a good team but all these shots an chances are from miles away an we are to narrow all these strikers can't play we need wingers to cross it in we are far to norrow. the chairman we have is great but i don't think he will wait to long he wants to go up and facts are we are miles off top and out of the cup rdm has made a rubbish start results wise and at the end of the day you can talk all you like how great villa are there not getting results which is all that matters!

13 Sep 2016 16:22:03
Mendax, i'm not using statistics to manipulate anything, in my post i stated his record with the last 2 top flight clubs he managed, just facts, VillaSA has rightly come back and said his win average overall is apparently 50 %, now i could say that's manipulating his time at the mk dons and chelsea, who at that time were a top 3 team of talent, but then i could say he has only ever managed 4 clubs, and never managed any of them for anything longer than much past a year or so.

after winning the champions league for example, did abramovic give him a crack, no, because he talked to the players and staff and their opinion was, great player for us, but can he cope with pressure? well, the result should tell you something, the only point i'm making is that it feels like he's trying to make his bones with us.

i hope he can because he's a thoroughly decent man, but as Evilla says, its results based now, why aren't we doing double sessions to ingrain rhythm and confidence. what's our system, whats our plan b, what's our reset formation, and if you say it takes time, newcastle have it under manners.

we're too slow to implement change on and off the pitch, the team mirrors the manager. after 10 games if we don't have more than 14 points we're not getting auto promo.

13 Sep 2016 22:12:01
If you had worded your opinion like the last 2 parts of this post people would have understood what you was getting at. Fair point and I agree with the point it's a results business we need to be doing something urgent about it and getting points on the board! Arm we are too slow to change things.

13 Sep 2016 23:07:34

Like I said "selective" facts
We are now not a top flight club by the way. If you really want to use "facts" to judge the merits of a manager for our fine club as they seek promotion from this division, why don't you look at RDM's record in doing that very thing, with Albion? Because it doesn't match the point you think you are proving
I'm not blindly faithful to RDM; I had some doubts when he was appointed but I'm prepared to give him a fair crack
What I cant't stand is half-baked arguments masquerading as proof .
If you don't rate RDM, fine, just say so. Don't try to prove that by looking at the statistics, what you say is the only possible conclusion someone could come to.

Ha ha ha Cheers Ed.
I'm tired.

{Ed003's Note - trying to stop the debate on the wrong thread but other ed's got there first lol.}

14 Sep 2016 00:01:55
Who ever said it, I agree! Lol.

{Ed003's Note - It is mendax's words :) ,got there eventually.}

14 Sep 2016 01:49:40
All of this speculation, blind faith, misguided loyalty, just look at the money spent and compare our league position with lowly Burton just down the road with not a pot to pee in, get real guys!

14 Sep 2016 07:09:10
Cheers chrisAVFC for that, we need to get the chaps humming, ticking like a swiss clock, and the only way is through practice and more practice, 2 sessions a day, day in day out, till their so sick of it its stamped on their noggins, i'd like to hear more from stevey clarke too, but, more worrying for me is dr. xia is already starting to hoot up, i don't think patience is a good friend of his, its starting to simmer up now, that's why i want us knocking our pipe out on the training ground now, because i don't think the good doctor will allow too much more unfortunately, i was always told the other side of passion was ruthlessness, and i think he has that in abundance.

13 Sep 2016 16:09:02
I am waiting to see what the defeatists are going to be saying after tonight`s games.
Things are going to appear a lot worse later, I can see us being in the bottom four come 9.30, it will be very interesting to see what people have to say about the management and team when that happens.

13 Sep 2016 16:50:00
What will you say if your prophesy comes true?
The team are looking good but the results do not match the effort shown.
The end of the season is what matters and what is said now makes no difference.

13 Sep 2016 12:14:51
I am reading a lot of posts on here about results and people are saying RDM should go and we should be winning every game because of the money we have spent. We have only played 6 games, the team needs time to gel and get used to playing with each other. RDM is probably still figuring out his best XI and how to get the best out of certain players. Give them time and in the next few months we will see much more positive results I'm sure.

13 Sep 2016 09:10:30
VillaSA, there is no doubting your loyalty, but here's one for you, say your recruiting a manager for us, and a c. v. lands in front of you, the person's name is witheld, so you can only go on their job history, now the first top flight club they were at sacked them after losing 13 of 18 games in all competitions.

okay it happens, give them another chance, so their next top flight club they managed sacked them after losing 12 of 17 games in the second half of the season when they took the job, they had been at that club since october, and the loosing run was from after the winter break till end of season, would you give them the job?

i've been kind and not mentioned what the fans and players said, but it was roughly along the same lines, oh, and been not that long as a manager, that's rdm-and those are his manager's records i'm quoting, you can park the chelsea gig because he didn't manage them really, steve holland, john terry, frank lampard and didier drogba picked the team in reality, so my question to you sir is, do you still persist that he is the one to galvanise us, if you do, fair play.

13 Sep 2016 12:42:50
Classof82,unlike many on the site you are a realist, we are in a results business and the days of patience when people quote fergy are long gone. After five years we know what failure looks like and some of us don't see the blue skies others do. Let RDM get his team on the field for a few games to give him a fair chance, my concern, we still had nearly 50% of last year on the field at some point on Sunday this can't continue or more misery will ensue.

13 Sep 2016 12:44:23
So, you'll basically use the statistics that suit your argument and discard those that don't.
Very balanced and fair of you.

13 Sep 2016 13:32:05
Mendax, which balanced statitics would you like to put forward, I still think mine and class of 82 are emperical.

13 Sep 2016 15:07:10
You can take part of any statistic and make it look negative. However if you take his complete managerial career, which gives you a better picture. After around 160 games. His win percentage is around 50% and loss ratio around 27%. So if we win half our games that puts us on 88 points and into the play offs.

But all of the above is just to prove a point. Perspective is the most important argument I am trying to make. We have a whole new team, they haven't played together long and we are dominating games. That gives me a positive outlook and coupled with RDM's career stats, the money we have spent. I can confidently say we have a good chance of going up this season.

13 Sep 2016 15:27:18
Sorry one correction, we would be on 78 points, 23 wins and 9 draws.

13 Sep 2016 16:09:29
Well I'm at it, let's just give you exact statistics. As the above was off the top of my head. I am not sure which hole you guys pulled your stats from.

RDM Managerial career;

217 Games
106 wins (49%)
49 draws (23%)
62 Losses (28%)

I don't agree on you Chelsea opinion either as Villas Boas couldn't do the same with the same players.

13 Sep 2016 16:13:06
Like all fans villaSA I sincerely hope you are correct, we just need some momentum, however we seemed to have adopted a self destruct button over the last few years which dampens the optomism of even the most ardent.

13 Sep 2016 16:51:35
I don't doubt they are empirical Hopeful. My issue is that they are hugely selective. If you are going to use empirical data to make a point you have to look at all the data rather than the bits that suit your argument.

13 Sep 2016 19:01:42
I don't understand if this original post is a joke or serious, 6 games in and people are calling for the managers head already? I don't believe it. And please stop picking statistics to suit your argument, as VillaSA pointed out, 50+% win ratio is good enough. And just so you know we're not in the top flight, so all the statistics you manipulated are effectively worthless for now.

13 Sep 2016 19:02:56
Lads your fighting a losing battle classof82 knows exactly what goes on behind closed doors at every club. I will put it like this we employ a manager to do a job and get his own players in that cost over 40 million we are for the 1st time in 5 years steady as a club and got the backroom staff sorted that are doing a fantastic job in getting MOST fans on their side again . What I'm trying to say in short for the record sacking RDM after 6 games is both stupid and will damage the club more who would want too come to a club when results don't go our way after 6 games and know they are in the firing line from the word go. Think about it logically for God's sake not only are you making yourself look silly but your also going too bring some other people down to your level and 30000 fans behind the team on Sunday can't be wrong only the minority moan and I'm afraid too say we have a minority on here #BACKYOURTEAM.

13 Sep 2016 20:23:18
Couldn't agree more! BACK YOUR TEAM! Instead of spouting rubbish about players and staff talking about the manager and living in a fantasy where you know more about the club than anyone else.
