As an Irish villa fan I've really been impressed wit hendrick over de last year really improving would probably cost 5 to 7 mill he young and I think he LL be a real good player any thoughts.

13 Jun 2016 20:34:16
Another Irish villa fan. There are two of us? Lol.

13 Jun 2016 20:55:51
For our sins.

13 Jun 2016 21:03:28
3 of us.

13 Jun 2016 21:32:11
Hendricks would be a grand signing indeed, but he's at derby i think, and i don't think their manager likes us too much, he'd want a kings ransom and then some, although rumour has it if one of our patrons, a gentleman by the name of 'Flackie' were to wear an, 'i love nigel pearson, he's my hero' t-shirt, he may reconsider, we can only hope flackie is indeed magnaminus enough, time will tell! though i fear i may find my car at the bottom of the local reservoir instead, with me still in it!

13 Jun 2016 21:50:57
3. I need to sit down. The only other one I'd heard of was a guy named luke.

13 Jun 2016 22:37:43
Irishvilla I know of at least three more of us. Including Luke that brings us to 7 nationwide. About the same as in China I'd guess.

13 Jun 2016 22:56:28
I'm going to put it out there, we won't be signing Hendricks!

13 Jun 2016 23:33:39
I only know of the legend luke. Never met him but is friend of friend. Lol bit like most of info on here.

14 Jun 2016 16:18:40
Not really villa related but Irish villa fans from a Northern Ireland villa fan. great respect yesterday in singing "stand up for the Ulster men" in tribute to a fans death. Wouldn't have happened a few years ago!

14 Jun 2016 19:51:43
Craiggers can say I've followed de north results over last 10 years never had a problem also look out for England Scotland and wales results de past is de past think most people have managed to have moved on thankfully.

14 Jun 2016 20:04:36
It's great to see mate.

13 Jun 2016 19:39:28
King villa. love him or hate him his heart is in the right place lads. Ok some times the info is a bit off, but Jesus it's clear the guy loves villa and his posts generate great debates.

Keep em coming king villa :-D.

13 Jun 2016 19:14:49
In regard to attracting players, but the right type, when it comes to the older players, or players with injury hit careers, how about a structured pay deal, europe styly, play up to 10 games, a basic agreed wage, then stage it, up to 15 games, basic wage + a, 20 game basic wage + b and so on, with the bonus for promotion the icing on the cake, i think that middle ground would inspire loyalty, fitness and team spirit, and for any mercenaries (and we all know their out there) the promise of cash to inspire their greed, hopefully a win for all concerned, any thoughts you crazy cats!

13 Jun 2016 19:45:55
That's how it should be 82, just a shame players have the power that they do, going back to the 70's/ 80's a decent player would make a couple of hundred quid more than a decent plumber, crazy the money they're on now

UTV.

13 Jun 2016 21:35:20
Your right Allyp1972,damn right, buy that's enough about those plumbers, those football players don't do too bad either!

13 Jun 2016 22:10:09
Nutter lol 👍🏻

13 Jun 2016 22:57:30
Ha ha ha! Lol.

13 Jun 2016 16:07:01
Good luck Ciaran Clarke this evening.

13 Jun 2016 19:00:02
great own goal clark. still get that out of ya system now and not for us next season.

14 Jun 2016 08:42:29
It's a shame cause he looked really good before that too. Pretty sure he's the only villa player at the tournament isn't he? Had to be him eh?

13 Jun 2016 12:13:39
Sorry Flackie but I am fed up of hearing how we should be signing players like Charlie Adam. Definitely NO. We want to get out of the Championship mate and we will not do it by signing a load of has beens.

13 Jun 2016 12:23:30
I never said sign him! I meant players like his work rate.

13 Jun 2016 19:42:27
I reckon sign Paul McMahon.

13 Jun 2016 10:56:04
I find it frustrating to see fellow Villa fans calling for players who simply just aren't good enough. Yes we are a championship team now but we need to behave like a club who means business after the shambles that was the Lerner years! Already the psychology has changed to "lets be conservative, and let's sign players only good enough for this league. If we want to get out its about confidence, making the right choices and infecting everyone with happy, capable Aston Villa right from the owner to us fans. Its about signing the best and believing we can do it because no-one else in the Championship will do it for us, and won't want us to either! Come on guys I've heard enough crap about average players, we are Villa "with money" we can have who we want.

13 Jun 2016 11:11:06
Well said mate.

13 Jun 2016 13:38:50
Devlins for Sporting Director. Stirring stuff my friend bring it on.

13 Jun 2016 00:44:13
i'm not one to enjoy taking from our neighbours, but i understand james morrison is available on a free from wba. it would be rude not too surely, alex tettey and gary o'neill (o'neill at a push) from norwich, or what about marc wilson from stoke, again on a free, ideally i'd love us to bring players in without 'baggage', but clubs here, and abroad will all be aware of our parachute payment, so its not going to be straight forward;the older players or those with injury history.

get them on a pay as you play contract with a bonus incentive for promotion, nick powell i think is worth a punt, i believe gaston ramirez is on a free, marriappa from crystal palace worth looking at too, i'm sure rdm will have a few surprises up his sleeve, but these players available on a free have the experience and maybe a point to prove, why not give them a trial.

they might just save us some money to free up to buy that box to box midfield general or that elusive striker who we all know will cost a pretty penny, what do ya reckon boys and girls, better the devil you know or roll the dice of fortune on new blood all round?

13 Jun 2016 11:05:53
I agree with all the names, and the sentiment regarding a pay as play contract, but if we are to offer these sort of deals, then I think we would only get players at themed of the window, as in their defence they would be holding out for a club to come in and offer some thing better.
Pay as you play deals, work with players that have spent a career at a club, grew an affiliation and are settled.
John terry is a good example.

I personally think we should offer good prem league contracts, with an incentive of promotion, at still try to act like we are a prem club, and treat last few years as a hard lesson learnt.

We need loyalty, commitment shown, from the club, players and fans to an agreed plan, and we need quality, not journey men, but hard, quality pros, like a James morrison, a Charlie Adam, and we need leaders.
Players with a point to prove.
Not people after one last payday, (worf, Richards) that have no loyalty, and if it goes wrong, can leave as not committed to a longer contract.

*the end of the window

(Must read post before pressing send! Sorry wittonwisdom! )

13 Jun 2016 11:46:33
Just a question for everyone. Who would you think is good enough to stay, who is realistically going to stay, do some maths and it's about 10 players at least we've got to sign, say we've got £40M to spend (I don't know how much we CAN spend, FFP etc. ) how are we going to do it if we don't look at players like Walters, Barry, players that won't cost much (maybe in wages though) free transfers, loan players? Hope the penny drops because throwing money at players in wages to make them join on top of £10M+ transfer fees is going to affect FFP too. Dream on if you think Amavi, Veretout, Gana, Gill, Traire and Ayew are going to stay, and if they go, that we'll get the money back we paid for them? They didn't exactly sell themselves last season, did they? Buy homegrown players, solid players that are up for a fight and know what to do to get out of this division

13 Jun 2016 12:23:59
Totally 100% disagree.

13 Jun 2016 12:59:46
& why?

UTV.

13 Jun 2016 13:16:50
As I think we are better than that.

13 Jun 2016 13:47:48
Barry is a great shout would be the model pro in the midfield. Players like Mason from Spurs and Gardener would benefit from his experience and his attitude. Walters NO Adam NO. Let us not forget the players like Cahill and Albrighton that have slipped through our fingers to go on at the highest level. The Academy is the envy of many and I'm sure that Sid will put them forward to play alongside a few old heads brought in by RdM.

13 Jun 2016 14:22:33
I'm splitting hairs but old heads are the type of players I'm talking about, mixed in with some more 'class' players and our youth, never once stated we should buy all 'old' players, being realistic about the type of player we 'could' get, and improve on what we've got. Out of interest, do you think any of those 5 I've mentioned will stay? Not hope they'll stay, actually will stay?

UTV.

13 Jun 2016 17:43:40
I get what you mean now mate, and we both saying same sort of thing, so I apologise!
Have to explain to me like I'm 5 some times!

Only players I think will stay from senior squad are
Clarke
Hutton
Gardener
Grealish
Traore
Gestede.

And funny enough these are all I hope stay!
Get rid of the rest!

13 Jun 2016 19:11:37
Fair play Flackie, I hope Traore stays and shows us what he's capable of, have you yourself got any players in mind to replace the deadwood? Or a starting line up for 1st game of the season? I've thrown some names about and pretty much get burned lol, it's kinda like Dream Team, if you want Aguero, you've got to balance it out with donkeys who you hope don't cost you points, like Konchesky by not playing lol, that's how I'm seeing this FFP thing. If they rename Villa Park for big money, then all bets are off, we can be more ambitious

UTV.

13 Jun 2016 19:34:07
I'm not really sure mate, I know we need some bottle, and desire back, work rate and the type of player who can mix it up, and dig deep when needed, but who that is I'm not sure!
I do like the idea of Barry back!
Hate the prospect of Walters or fletcher!

However, and I know it's an old cliche, but we all have a different opinion! We are all right, wrong and indifferent, (maybe not the oracle that is kingvilla! ) but if a Walters and a fletcher come, fire us back to prem, and prove me wrong, I would be ten times happier than them proving me right!

13 Jun 2016 19:55:23
Hopefully this week we'll see some exciting players linked, and some solid 1's too, there got to be Mellberg or Dwight Yorke clones out there somewhere?

13 Jun 2016 20:51:55
Swap Elphick for Dawson and Gardner for Hughes, don't think Amavi will stay, good team that fella 👍🏻

13 Jun 2016 07:09:23
just now patiently waiting for movement within the camp, hopefully it's all good!

13 Jun 2016 16:58:24
Gentlemen, the passion, the verve, the unwavering belief in what is good, but that's enough about my fried bentos pie i've just put on for me dinner, i'm loving all the players people are mentioning, but priority has to be a goalkeeper, and our defence, those are the positions we need to spend big money on, (house and foundations you know the drill), from midfield upwards, surely loan deals are the way forward (with deals to buy them when promoted), we save some sheckles and thus can go for that striker we need.

i understand magnusson is one of those, but 3+ other championship clubs sniffing around too, with the money we could save on lion deals, we can pay a bigger fee and better wages for him, and still stay within the FFP guidelines, this is where the canny jock steve clarke will show his wheeling and dealing streak, rdm sticking to his chelski contacts and lazio contacts (shalke-not sure) to hopefully nab a few jems, i hate to say it, but we need to use our financial clout to bully clubs into selling (loaning) us players, feel bad about this kind of way of doing business, but priority is get the heck out of this league asap.

13 Jun 2016 00:48:39
with all these players leaving i say up2 about 7 want to go we need at least 7 replacements we haven't got much time as the championship starts earlier aswel iam really worried yes we will have players but if people think nathan baker an joe bennett an an jed steer will get us back up your mistaken we need qaulity players he rdm really needs to by quality and qwick even if he does its going to take time to sort all this lot out an get it to gel. hopfully xia deal is done soon because unlike newcastle an norwich we need a new team there squads are stronger an more ready to bounce back i think its going to be a long battle to get avfc back to where it belongs but players like robson kanu on a free need to be snapped up qwick!

13 Jun 2016 07:26:58
Transfer window isn't open until July, and also why do people keep saying Newcastle and Norwich have strong teams! They were relegated as well, they can't be that good.

13 Jun 2016 14:53:53
newcastle will have the same problem as we will soon. all these players that think they are world class will not pipe up saying "im off" and we will both need to rebuild almost ful first team.
