Villa have accepted a 20m offer for Stuart Downing and gave them prmission to speak to Downing

I agree with the guy above absolutely no chance of any quality players coming in. We can say bye bye to given etc and hello to players like green and rodallega. We are turning into blues even more each day. NOT GOOD

Personally i think we must sign Given N'zogbia and this Winger from Fiontina Juan manual Vaguas and then depending Villa do in the opening 2 matches we might get some quality through the door at the end of the transfer window

darren bent openly said that he is commited to the villa cause and has had the backing of juan pablo angel that he will be a holte end goliath next season. . All was on avtv yesterday so why would we sell bent after his warm welcome and his desire to commit?

In one of his first interviews bent was quoted about how he was looking forward to the service of young and downing and he was looking forward to playing with them 2 players. He will be gone in january u mug

Maybe beacuse he goes anywhere for the money, he did the same thing at sunderland got a brilliant welcome, the fans loved him, he said he would stay, kissed the badge when he scored then wanted to go for more money and was sold. I'm not having a go at Villa but just seems like Bent is doing the same things and it doesn't look good when he said he wanted Young and Downing to stay but now one has gone and the other soon to be.

All this quiet and speculation about whos on ecks radar is mostly fantasy. Aston villa will not leak possible signings anywhere as they consider there boards professionalism a contributing factor to enticing new players to the club. This has been tarnished over the last 12 months with martin o'neils departure the poor decision to appoint houllier and the tapping up of alex mcleish, however the differences between all parties has been resolved it has had a big impact on villas credebility and reputation. My personal view is that randy needs a new cheif executive with a more football view of buisness as paul faulkners poor decisions have lead us up this path of unstability. Dont know if anybody else agrees but that's my honest opinion.

If liverpool are willing to pay 20 million for Downing, I'll drive him up there myself. He's shown a lack of loyalty to the club, who brought him from the footballing backwater of Middlesborough, and then paid his wages for a season with a broken leg. Downings a good player but not a great player. Its about time we started selling at a profit.
