C'mon Villa fans, don't knock until you are sure. Loads of typical Villans stating that they will stay away from VP if big Eck arrives. No one else wants to come to VP, read the press, Villa are a laughing stock not able to persuade an upcoming manager to even have an interview. There are more names than you can shake a stick at but none are saying yes I will come to VP. He is not a bluenose, he was pulled in from Scotland as City were desperate. Wait and see what he might do if he gets support from Lerner. Give him a chance. WE ARE DESPERATE! !

hi ed what do you think about alex mcleish becomin new manager {Ed001's Note - I would worry for Villa if McLeish took charge, he has relegated Brum twice now, I am not sure what he has done to make him seem the right man for the job?}

If mcleish comes to the villa I will resign myself to the fact that we will be heading into the championship. Randy learner needs to realise the damage it will do to his relationship with the villa fans. As a die hard villain I will not step foot in villa park as long as mcleish is in charge if appointed and I know others will do the same. So come on mr lerner give Raffa what he wants and take this great club forward.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I half agree with what you say but Rafa all he'll do is fill the squad with loads of rubbish spanish players
I think the majority of Villa fans would be happy with Rijkaard or Raneiri

Bad news for Villa fans, Britain's best Goalkeeper Allan McGregor will not be joining Villa, he is in talks to sign a new deal with Rangers. It looks like Carlos Cuellar will be playing for Rangers next season as everyone knows he loves Rangers and said he would jump the chance to come back, I think Rangers could get him for around £2m-£3m. Of course, the Carlos Cuellar part is just my opinion :]

Both sound like good news for Villa fans. We don't have a Scottish keeper coming to us and get rid of a clumsy defender

does not matter hoo our new manager is i really think Cuellar will go back to Rangers, i don't blame him, bigger club and champions league football. something i don't think we will get next year !
======================================
I agree about the Champs league even though they get knocked out early on but bigger club no way and its a rubbish league with only 2 real teams in it

======================================

rangers are a bigger club than villa, FACT rangers might play in a poor league, but they have a biggar fan base, with a worldwide supporter clubs network, a bigger and better staduim which is a 5 star uefa (can Host champions league Final) Better training facilities.

Just because you play in the premier league doesn't mean you are a big club.

villa would have along way to go before they are on a par with rangers with fan base, staduim, etc

as a villa fan i have read every bit of news i possibley can. a lot of us have aloud the press and other clubs to wind us up.well f### them all we know how big our club is apart from the so called top four or six who has spent more money than villa?. ash young is going to man u all our better players have gone to clubs with more money or can offer champs L so as villa fans we have nothing to be ashamed of .the martinez story was a publicity stunt by dave whelan to make the wigan fans happy we only asked to speak to him we did not offer him three times his salary as there was no meeting.and to put some other rumours to rest that we are now getting desperate, chelsea have yet to name a new manger either. so relax we will hear from randy and the board when they have a new man if we like it or not and as far as looking at the two time relagated brum scum manager , pull the other one.

britans best goalkeeper is joe hart not fat alan mcgregor. You should try watching match of the day next season

Fat Allan McGregor? You need to stay off the glue pal. . Best Keeper in Britain by a country mile and yous have NO chance of getting him, why would he take a step down to join Aston Vanilla??

Agree0 Disagree0

Look Villa don't want your keeper and if wanted competitive football and to really make wide known name for himself he'd leave the spl as its a poor league with no money and if he was as good as you say i'm sure Sir Alex would of looked at him before david de gea so pull the other one mate

hey guys just read in the news of world alex Mcleish is the top choice for the next manager who reckons that's a good choice I for one think it'll be good business if he's given Money to spend on transfers and it weakens City could we ask for more and would prob help us sign Foster/Dann

Believable1 Unbelievable2

To the barmpot who wrote think mcleish will be good signing as manager, god he got the dirty side of brum relegated twice are you insane mate. villa should narrow it down. Moyes, Ranieri, Rijkard, hughes. also cuellar to stay he best defender at club collins can't pass straight for toffee.Ash not a great loss downing would be worse. also one of the biggest problems at villa is CEO Paul Faulkner he not got a bloody clue. .get the right manager give him 30 mill and money from Ash sale and go for it. and please villa board don't harp on about record signing of bent the money from sale of milner paid for him. .

Agree0 Disagree0

Look lets all be real all we want to see is a manager come in re-build the squad and get us back to winning the odd trophy and european football. So there Alex McLeish has managed Brum a team we expect to get relegated when they come up or just survive relegation. So the expectation for them isn't high and yes they've been relegated but he guided them to winning a trophy along they way, which is something we need to get back to be doing 15 years is along time to go without a club our history but seriously i'm not bothered who the new manager is I would fancy Rijkaard or Ranieri also as a decent choice

just hearing villa only planned talks with martinez at no time were they going to offer him the job without carrying out numerous interviews benitez who wanted 75mil to spend is the only person that has had talks so far with further interviews being carried out this week including megson, burley, zola, ranieri, riikjard, moyes and hughes being spoken to hughes will be later in the month because of the month notice enforced by his resignation from fulham looking at the candidates above all are interesting but i would like to see either moyes or riikjard get the post moyes makes very good signings on a poor budget and riikjard has excellent european player contacts

Guys were not in a spiral or are we in a dire situation.
We were not turned down by martinez as we offered nothing for him to turn down. I believe randy is just trying to get the best fit and I think he is well aware of what he wants and it will not be grayson.
The press throw names around just to fill pages, last season we were linked with benzema and a hundred other players.
Trust that all is fine the transfer market has not peaked and we will get a good ambitious manager.

if downing leaves ? bent will put in a transfer request.
he understands asley young's decision.
so villa have to make a good appointment or im afraid we may be in a dog fight again.
looks like carlos will join rangers this monday for 2.5m rising to 3m.
warnock will go on a season long loan at west ham with a view to purchase for 3m if promoted.
stoke city will tempt villa with a 5m offer for gabby.
no wonder we can't find a manager.
the small squad is getting smaller each week.
think we could do worse than give sven from leicester.
experience of the premier league with man c an did good. picks up some goods players for small value.
also has the pulling power for big names.

The jurnalist who wrote the story about Alex McLeish being line up for the managers job should be shot at dawn

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Yeah i get he's brum's manager but he ent a bad manager really and it leaves brum in s**t as i can't see moyes, coyle, rijkaard, van gaal or sven coming in and Mcleish would be better than grayson or megson

to person that said its good were not getting scottish goalkeeper how does it matter what nationality he is allan mcgregor one of best keepers in world and englisk keepers arent that good eg rob green paul robinson scott carson ben foster all made mistakes playing for england

I believe Delph should be playing for England under 21 in Denmark. Of course it would be hard for Stuart Pearson to take take a player whose played no more than 6 times in two years and that's why I feel the next manager in charge should at least give Fabian a chance unlike O'Neil and Houllier because he's a class player with great potential.
JMO (just my opinion)

I think Nolan would do well at VP. We need a bit of a creative midfielder and one who can score goals - 12 goals in one season is good for a striker let alone a midfielder! Newcastle want 6 million for for the 28 year old but I believe Villa could persuade them to let their skipper go for around the fee of 5 million.
