Why isn't Christian Eriksen being considered? Danish playmaker with only 1 year left. He is willing to leave Ajax and for £12m he could be a great signing.

We as a club could submit a bid and match his value, however we cannot match his ambitions of champions league football. So this option is dead in the water.
No way would we get him. He would refuse our contract regardless of the wages that we couldn't probably provide for him in the first place
Couple of reasons really. We have a £20m annual budget of which £13.5m has been spent, and ajax have put a price of £15m on him today. So even if we were to sell bent for £6m which probably won't happen, we still won't have the money, nor will we be able to offer the same wages as other teams interested.
