So what I have got from watching Aston Villa so far this season is that Villa players are scarred from last season. They are ok when they are winning or drawings but soon as that goal goes in they are like a boxer that has been knocked down an beat up. Last season was brutal I think we forget what mentally it is done to this squad iam sorry but this squad needs replacing some are good enough but the scars are to deep this team as been hit so many time when they get hit down they automatically fall down! Keeping joe bennett was a good thing we need a squad. Suggestion for Roberto Di Matteo go out and buy ugly Fighters the scrappy the better. u need players like robbie savage ian taylor boateng. Question is where do you find them players! I actually feel sorry 4 this team not angry no more after some thinking i don't belive this team together can win a football game they been through to much!

Glad to see a bid for james chester has been accepted, also reports saying about potentially signing de laet and jedinak which would be great additions to the squad. After that performance last night against Luton i'm glad that the dead wood may now be seen for what it truely is and RDM and Tony Xia are now taking action to help build a squad that deserves to wear the villa shirt. Also glad bennett's move has been blocked as i thought he played well in the division last year and would take him over Cissoko anyday, would like to see a striker come in although McCormack has signed be great in my opinion if abel hernandez joins also! UTV!

So rather than be a doomer and gloomer, I will rather point out what was wrong last night instead saying we are doomed.

Firstly I hope that RDM was using this match as a bit of a training experience so RDM can settle on his best team and prioritise promotion.

First 20 minutes we looked very threatening. Even Richards impressed me going forward, but was lazy going back, but this was not a huge problem considering we had 71% possession.

Baker was looking very solid, so why did he take him off and move Richards out of position? then put on Huttton who could never deal with their left winger. Horrible tactical decision.

Okore was then hopeless when he lost is central defensive partner, Richards was always missing. McCormack for Gestede, why on earth? Was the next problem.

Why did we play such a high line and constantly commit so many forward when we could see their pace on the break.

As far as I am concerned we really need to completely change the way we play. This season so far and last season we have played with 2 attacking full backs that leave us weak at the back because they don't get back. Our defense is a massive problem.

We need to change to a 3-5-2 formation. We need to have 3 solid central defenders (We have only 2) one strong defensive midfielder (Tshibolo) and then we put Amavi at left mid, because his defending is sub standard but he is good going forward and can come back and cover. We put Green on the right.

Westwood in the middle (Although i would like a replacement for him) and Grealish in a more advanced 10 position, with, Ayew and McCormack up front.

We really have to look at the defense, it's been a problem for a while, so far Elphick and Baker look good, Okore and Richards are not good enough for me.

I also don't see a point looking for another attacking right back (full backs bombing forward does not work for us), let's rather get another central defender on the right and attack through the midfield so we are not lean in defense.

Anyway that's my 2 cents, use it or lose it.

I agree villa sa but for me Grealish just don't cut it never assists and is always inconsistent in games he's just average Jackie grealish.

I see your point there, but we can't keep playing him out of position. I don't believe he is a left winger, and I think he might do better in the number 10 role. Even if we get in a better player in his position, if we don't do something about our disastrous defense set-up we are always playing catch-up and don't even have the option of a draw.

3-5-2 has to be the way forward as our full backs are shite except Amarvi

For me moving forward we need to buy players in key positions as highlighted

Adama Will Hughes * Tshibola Amavi

Ayew

Hernandez McCormack

At the risk of giving people a history lesson they already know, we were first relegated from the top-flight in 1932 where we spent 2 seasons in the old 2nd division. Relegated again in 1959, this time we bounced back after one season. Then, as we all know, from 1967 to 1975 we were out of the top-flight - 6 seasons in division 2 and 2 seasons in division 3 and then down again in 87-88. So, for all the doom-sayers out there, even if we didn't bounce back in one season, this would certainly not be our darkest hour - for that we would have to spend 9 seasons out of the premiership. So come on gentlemen, at this stage of the season surely your glasses have to be at least half-full.

Finally we all realise the depth of our clubs problems and how far we have sunk.
Ironically "Prepared" is something that we most definitely are not. It may take time to get the dead wood and negativity of last season out of our club but it will happen. A new owner who will want a return on his investment. A Management team who want to change the players and mentality on the pitch. As fans we have to remain positive. On Sunday we had plenty of positives on the pitch and also those who must go were still apparent. Even more so last night Dr X tweeted as much. So we show those not worthy the exit, get more new faces and young guns on the pitch.
Always remember we are the 12th man and we must also shake off the last few years and be positive. Get behind the club and know that when we do good times will follow. VTID.

Could not agree more. We need players who want to play for the club. Players with the hunger that the likes of Richards etc have not had since they turned up at Villa.

What has happend to this once great club kings of europe82 to this rubbish. its been on the cards for 7 years now . If people think were going to go up there blind this team will not win 10 games all season il bet al my wages on it . we have b ad managers and a useless chairman . don't know bout the dr all he is botherd about is twitter . the fans should off bought villa, a supporters trust or something . but we will keep on watching an hopefully oneday we will return to where we be long.

We need to build a new team should of been done in the firstplace we needed to sign 11 players 11 players with a desire to be winners an not loosers an they all have passion an commitment we have some good youth green murphy tishilba toner all need to play . also we need wingers who cross the ball because playing with wingbacks doesn't work . its going to take a man with big balls to sort villa out hope rdm has them i think he is good i'm not calling him if it was me i'd have gone for pearson u don't mess with him that's what the players need or bruce aswell only time will tell its going to take 2 to 3 years for villa to come bck up.

I really don't know where to comment amongst the massacre of passionate and disgusted comments?! We have been mid to top table premier league and had some cup shockers over the years that has not seen the death of us in the league!

Let's all keep calm and realistic that we are in uncharted territory sailing a very damaged ship that our new owners and management are working to fix things! We still have players, especially tonight who know little more than losing week after week.

Let's keep faith in that those who don't shape up will be shipped out so new players can come in still! Keep calm keep the faith, I have thought all along play offs once we get a good settled run going. Forget the cups and concentrate on the league UTV.
