Watched troy deeny today and thought he was fantastic. Anyone think he would be a good signing although we have a few strikers? Just wondering

Does any one else think gareth barry would be a good signing to help our younger players also our defence! I know people will dissagree but he's still a villa legend!
In terms of football ability I could certainly see the merit of Barry sitting in front of our back four, giving them extra cover and picking up the ball and moving forward with it. In financial terrms I don't think it could possibly happen unless Barry himself really wanted the move and was happy to take a significant pay cut
I would welcome him back with open arms, he's a good pro and was a great servant to villa. If he took a significant pay cut to come back then he would be a folk law hero.

I think if we go for a player like Barry with his wealth of experience fine, but only to play a BIT part when needed, otherwise it would mean disrupting the young team we are developing.
We got through last season, and what a learning curve that was, so let's see how we do during the first half of this season.
This type of player like Barry would not go for that, they would want to play all the time, and then who would you drop?
